Neal Jackson’s Pork Belly at Lot20
Long before I was a blogger, Chef and I enjoyed a wonderful dego at the now-closed Jackson’s restaurant in Highgate.
Neal Jackson was the god-father of Perth fine dining and I’m so happy to report that he’s working with Lot 20 as a Mentor Chef to their excellent kitchen team.
Lot 20 is perfectly placed next to Perth Cultural Centre and the State Theatre Centre of WA, which means the hip bar is always buzzing.
Sit in the outside courtyard and enjoy the chilled, friendly vibe, with the hustle and bustle of Northbridge just meters away. Be sure to visit on a night Oyster-King Jerry Fraser is there too, for his superb freshly shucked oysters.
During Eat Drink Perth you can revisit Neal Jackson’s exquisite pork belly dish – the finest Linley Valley pork is roasted and served with grilled chili prawns, a carrot, kimchi and pickled ginger tartare with an Asian style carrot and coconut sauce.

Picnic at Hanging Rock with hamper package
An evening of theatre is perfect for a date night with a difference. During Eat Drink Perth, Beaumonde catering have a tasty show and hamper package on offer, so you can have a picnic before enjoying the iconic mystery “Picnic at Hanging Rock”.
The hamper is filled will all sorts of goodies. Chicken, avocado and cress mini baguettes, gruyere palmiers with tarragon crème fraiche and olive , pancetta rolled beef fillet with saffron pearl pasta, picnic at hanging rocky road with strawberry marshmallow, dark chocolate berry and more!
There are a few locations you’ll be able to enjoy your delicious spread – in the beautiful foyer of theatre itself or find a quiet spot in the outside courtyard.

In Good Company at Petition Kitchen
Where better to join in on the Eat Drink Perth festivities than right in the heart of the city.
The beautifully restored State Buildings were once home to the GPO of Perth and the historic city centre. On first glance Petition Kitchen looks very casual – but don’t be fooled! The service, food and wine list are all top notch and it’s the perfect place for a classy date night without pretention.
The “In Good Company” event at Petition Kitchen is a food & wine pairing degustation. Enjoy Head Chef Jesse Blake’s rustic share plates, which are promised to be a little bit quirky.
Each course is matched with wine and with Petition’s extensive wine list – there are sure to be some cracking drops on offer!

Degust-Asian at Wok St Chow House
Wok St Chow House has hit the ground running! The Thai-inspired Northbridge eatery has been open just a few months and is proving very popular. It has a cool atmosphere, dimly lit by green neon light and with many little nooks to dine in, it’s a great place for a date night over a tasty pad-thai. Out the back there’s a vibrant mural of “Yum Yum” the smiling panda.
This is no ordinary dego at Wok St Chow House… the epic 8 course “Degust-Asian” is a delicious and spicy feast of authentic street food, with the option to match your meal with a cocktail. Though mostly Thai – the Wok St Chefs also draw inspiration from Filipino and other Asian Street Food. Not to be missed!

Indian Street Cart Menu at Sauma Wed 16 Mar 2016 – Sat 23 Apr 2016
Sauma is a must-stop for lovers of Indian food! Found on the corner of William and James Streets, the vibrant and modern restaurant is fantastic for groups as well as couples. The menu has a modern-Indian twist – think Butter Chicken Pies, wagyu samosas and finger-licking sweet tamarind lamb ribs.
During Eat drink Perth, Sauma has a special Indian street cart menu. Share an Indian street food feast with your sweetheart – cheese naan, tandoori salmon and chicken, a house plate to share, jackfruit curry and slow cooked lamb saag. Finish on a sweet note with a traditional Indian dessert – creamy mango kulfi (ice cream).

Three Course French Dinner at Blackbird Restaurant – Wed 16 Mar 2016 – Sat 23 Apr 2016
If an intimate date night is more your style, then head to Blackbird, a little bit of France in East Perth. Overlooking the pretty Claisebrook Cove, the restaurant is a quiet haven away from the rush of the city – fantastic for sharing a bottle of French wine or a decedent cocktail.

Found in the vibrant Brookfield Place, Sushia is much more than a casual Sushi restaurant. Enjoy an exquisite cocktail at the bar before dining on the freshest sashimi and more. Munch on crisp popcorn prawns with creamy jalapeño sauce, Robatayaki pork rib with a spicy momoko sauce and sweet potato chips and for dessert there’s the lush creamy black sesame surprise with caramelised cashews and vanilla ice-cream. It’s incredibly tasty and excellent value.
