HyperFest Perth 2017 lineup announced

Melbourne-based rapper Allday, Canberra heavyweights Hands Like Houses, Tasmanian singer-songwriter Asta and Windang surf-rockers Hockey Dad will be joined by Nicole Millar, Ocean Grove, Saviour, Totally Unicorn, Hannahband as part of HyperFest 2017’s line-up when it takes over Midland Oval on Saturday February 18.

Allday came to the spotlight in 2014 following the success of his debut album Startup Cult, and has since been busy performing at sold out national tours, countless festival appearances and supporting big names like Lily Allen. Most recently he has dropped singles “Monster Truck” and “Sides” in anticipation of his upcoming second album.

Following on from the success of their third album Dissonants, Hands Like Houses have spent the last year touring extensively throughout Australia, the UK and the US. Tracks “I Am”, “New Romantics” and “Colourblind” have seen the album reach #7 on the ARIA charts.

Tasmanian songstress Asta has come far since winning Triple J Unearthed High in 2012 with the track “My Heart Is On Fire”. Last year she released “Dynamite” featuring Allday before embarking on a national tour in March.

Surf rock duo, Hockey Dad, join HyperFest after their sell-out show at Perth Nightclub, Jack Rabbit Slims, in October. Their signature pop sound heard in their hits “Can’t Have Them” and “Seaweed” are fundamental for a Perth summer’s day.

City of Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said local artists would also get the chance to shine across the festivals’ two main stages.

“The team is excited to announce that Lilt, Verge Collection, Rag N Bone, Premiss, Alex the Kid, Jacob Diamond will be joining the festival’s line-up on the day and applications are still open to join the huge second line-up announcement, due in January,” he said.

“Local DJs will also be on the decks all day in the silent disco, with DJ applications open now.”

HyperFest 2017 will also feature a foam dance pit, sideshow alley market, live art battles, silent disco, chill out stage, gourmet food vans, water slides, dunk tank, photo booth, games, merchandise and a signing tent for all of your favourite artists.

Midland/Guildford Ward Councillor, Mark Elliott said HyperFest 2017 continued to be Perth’s biggest and best drug, smoke and alcohol free all-ages festival.

“The event is run by young people, for young people, so it has something for everyone,” he said “and the Hyper Team of volunteers should be commended for the great job they do and it is great to see their success in continuing to build the festival,” he said.

City of Swan’s HyperFest, is happening on Saturday 18 February 2017 at Midland Oval from 12am to 9pm.

Patrons can also sign up to the RAC Road Ready membership program to receive $5 off their Hyperfest ticket and free popcorn and water (limited to one per person) at the festival! Join today at http://www.rac.com.au/rac_roadready

The festival, presented by Drug Aware, is an all-ages (12+) drug, smoke and alcohol free event and would not be possible without the support of so many organisations, including Drug Aware, Healthway, RAC, Lotterywest, Midland Gate Shopping Centre, and Moshtix.
