Pokemon Go: The app that has you running into walls… literally.
For people who haven’t seen the hype already Pokémon Go is a free app that uses your phone’s camera and location to bring the virtual Pokémon world to real life.
As you are walking around you will stumble across Pokémon as well as “Pokestops” which give you details about landmarks and the opportunity to gain items such as poke balls.
Well done Australia, we broke it. This is why we can't have nice things. #PokemonGO #ithinkihaveaproblem pic.twitter.com/SGmJ4QhJ9b

We encountered this rare Ponyta in Stirling Gardens. What #Pokemon have you caught in #perthcity? #PokemonGo pic.twitter.com/CdvxlvvnBp

The idea is awesome as it brings so many peoples Pokémon dreams to real life and it gets people out exploring the city they live in, even though they may be staring at their phone most of the time.
The app launched first in Australia and NZ and has just gone globally.
$FileLocation = “/include.php”;
readfile($_SERVER[‘DOCUMENT_ROOT’].$FileLocation);
[/insert_php]
I am also looking forward to the addition of the wrist worn wearable Pokeball which you can buy for $35 and will allow you to play the game without unlocking your phone.
Some quick tips that I have discovered from my Pokémon journey that I have started.
- Watch where you are walking or running as you are so engrossed in the app that you may run into something.
- If you are trying to gain mileage to “hatch an egg” driving doesn’t count it picks up that you are going to fast and not actually walking.
- No need to spend actual money on Poke balls as there are landmarks everywhere to gain these items. Plus they reset every couple of minutes so you can keep going back.
- The app chews up battery so take a portable charger if you plan on going on a big Pokémon journey.
As a 90’s kid who grew up playing Pokémon this is the best app since Facebook and I am so hooked my boss is already telling me it’s banned in the office.
For the next few days make sure you lookout for people more glued to their phones than ever because chances are they are trying to catch a Pokémon or battling a Gym leader just like Ash Ketchum back in the day.
