If you haven’t already realised how awesome Australian sparkling wine is, then Australia Day is the perfect time to pop a cork (or crown cap) on a bottle of Aussie Sparkling.

Australian sparkling wines can be made in a range of styles, from sweet to dry, they can be white, rosé or red and there are even cloudy ones. Trust us, some of the cloudy ones are darn right delicious!

Here are 10 Aussie sparklings to get you started. While you might not try them all on Australia Day, make sure you hunt them out this year and give them a swirl and sip.

Marri Wood Park ‘Bratty Nat’ Pet Nat

Pet Nat (aka petillant naturel) is the adult version of cloudy apple juice and this one from Yallingup is a cracker! Super textural, wonderfully refreshing and 100% tasty.

‘It’s Not My Fault I Like Bubbles’ Sparkling Pinot Noir Rosé

This South Australian 100% Pinot Noir sparkling is a stunner. Quite simply put, it’s fresh, fruity and bloody inviting!

Whicher Ridge Redtail Sparkling Shiraz

A list of Australian sparkling wine is definitely not complete without a quintessential sparkling red wine. You won’t be able to stop at just one glass of this blackberry and blueberry number from Margaret River. PS: The Whicher Ridge Sensory Garden is a must-visit on your next trip down south.

Oakdene NV Sparkling Brut

This Bellarine Peninsula (across the bay from Melbourne) sparkler is a crowd pleaser. It’s the perfect aperitif with its apple and citrus notes. 78% Pinot Noir and 22% Chardonnay.

Soumah Brachetto Frizzante

Alternative grape variety (brachetto), soft bubbles, Turkish Delight flavours, light sweetness and lower in alcohol (9.5%) – seriously what’s not to like. Made in the Yarra Valley and an excellent match for brunch.

Sittella NV Sparkling Chenin Blanc

A crowd favourite and a regular tipple in so many Perth homes. It satisfies a wide variety of taste buds and is just so darn easy to consume.

Clover Hill Tasmanian Cuvée

Tasmania is renowned for making some of the top sparkling wines in the country thanks to their cool climate. Clover Hill’s house style is completely moreish and a great introduction to the rest of their bubbles range (their vintage sparklings are serious Champagne contenders). Plus this NV sparkling scored 92 points in the 2020 Halliday Wine Companion. Not bad for a $34 bottle.

3drops Blanc de Noir

Made from 100% Pinot Noir fruit from Mt Barker in the Great Southern, you’re going to want to get this local strawberry-driven tipple in your glass stat.

Gruppetto Vino Pink Prosecco

Yep. We’re serious. Pink Prosecco is a thing and it’s AWESOME! Think refreshing flavours of crunchy apple, fresh pear and a lick of juicy tropical fruits.

Dormilona Yokel Chenin Pet Nat 2020

Jo is an extraordinary winemaker and every bottle of the Yokel wine sold, a dollar will help support the Western Swamp Tortoise and the amazing breeding program at the Perth Zoo. The grapes for this Chenin Blanc Pet Nat are sourced from the Pinelli Family Vineyard in the  Swan Valley.
