Okay Perth, we see you.

2021 may have been a bit of a bummer, but that didn’t stop the Perth scene from churning out some absolute delights on the food and drinks front.

We’ve got a New Years’ resolution for you – go and check out some of the fabulous new bars and restaurants that have opened up over the last few months, ASAP.

Here’s a wrap of some of the best.

1. Naber + IIII

Opening its doors at the start of this year, Naber + IIII is a unique venue embracing the spirit of your friendly neighbourhood bar with fresh local produce on one side and a disco garden-vibes boozy hangout on the other.

Expect a wine and beer list starring WA brands, flashy cocktails, a garden bar, a menu that packs a punch and a large communal table surrounded by plenty of booths and nooks to relax in. They’re also putting a big focus on zero-waste and sustainability – so big plus from us.

2. Nieuw Ruin

Wine-centric small bar? We’re always in.

Nieuw Ruin has blessed the streets of Fremantle as a serious contender for some of the best wine in town, with a very impressive 300-bottle list.

They specialise in independent, small-batch booze with a range of funky, wonderful wines you’ve probably never tried, plus a fresh menu of local delights.

If you’re all about wine, this is the place for you.

3. Bar Rogue

If you love Le Rebelle, Bar Rogue should be right up there on your list of new places to try.

Their new sister venue is certainly satisfying all expectations with a two-tiered wine bar that oozes sleek chic- think velvet curtains, exposed brick and ornate tables. The packed wine list will keep you sipping well into the evening hours, and flavourful bar snacks just as good as the iconic Le Rebelle spread will keep the hunger at bay.

4. ANY

Loosen those pants and embark on the food journey of your dreams at Perth’s newest culinary experience.

ANY is a contemporary venue set to introduce enthusiastic foodies to a totally unique culinary experience with some of WA’s biggest hospitality names taking the helm. The menu is full of cultural flavours and innovative dishes with the theme of simple sophistication in mind.

It’s centred around the Chef’s Table concept – basically, creations are made, finished and presented directly to you in a fully open galley kitchen. Couple this with their intimate dining room setting and a cosy lounge bar serving up a banging beverage list and you’ve got yourself a winner.

It’s set to open in mid-January, so take a look at their reservations to get in early and try it out.

5. Golden Boy & Jade Girl

What do you get when a third-generation restaurant entrepreneur and iconic hospitality veteran join forces?

Answer: Golden Boy & Jade Girl.

Andy Ngo (Rockpool Bar & Grill, Brisbane Hotel) and Michael Cheang (Seasonal Brewing Co, Alfreds Pizzeria) have put a spin on casual Asian dining and laid-back party vibes in the CBD- one-half restaurant, one half rooftop bar, it’s the ultimate best of both worlds.

Golden Boy serves up bold creations under moody black and red tones while Jade Girl transports you to a green-filled rooftop oasis with plenty of drinks to wash it all down.

6. Will St.

On the topic of Asian delights, Will St. is another glowing newbie in Leederville.

Renowned chef Will Meyrick brings Perth foodies a menu featuring flavours from across India, Bali and our very own Australian with some cultural-cross creations in the mix. Inspired by his culinary journey spanning 20 years through Asia, we can guarantee the food here is top of the pop.

7. Servo

Servo has taken industrial inspo, all-day dining and a genre-less menu and turned it into something totally unique and fabulous in Leederville.

The dishes follow no rules, and you’ll be polishing off the plate full of bold, bright flavours in no time. Their courtyard bar follows the bright and vibrant theme with funky local wines, refreshing spritzes and cocktail creations new and old.

8. Indigo Oscar

Setting up shop in the former Indiana Tearooms, Indigo Oscar has got Summer covered with 10/10 Cottesloe views and a pretty superb menu of bites to top it off.

The little tropical gem has made quite a name for itself already, with bold Latin flavours the hero and fresh fruity cocktails ready to put you in vacation mode. Must-tries include their pineapple-glazed pork belly skewers, Shark Bay crab arepas and roasted chipotle cauliflower.

9. Pirate Life + TOMA

After a very long wait, the opening of Pirate Life certainly did not disappoint.

The largest brewpub in the CBD, it’s home to a range of spaces including an in-house brewery sporting plenty of Pirate Life on tap, casual fine-dining at TOMA, two private dining rooms and more to come.

If you decide to pay a visit you simply cannot go without getting your hands on a sensationally extravagant tomahawk in the restaurant, treat yourself!

10. St Brigid Bar

Doubleview locals are all over this one, and for good reason.

St Brigid Bar was born from the brains behind Mechanics Institute and safe to say they’ve absolutely nailed the neighbourhood bar category. Head in hungry, because they’ve got a menu of food that is so impressive we want to try it all.

Drinks-wise they’ve got a curated list of wines and beers, but the Long Mac Topped Up is truly a creation to behold as their own take on the iconic espresso martini.

11. Casa

Given they have some 9, 000 followers on Instagram and 0 posts, it can be assumed that Casa is just that good.

The neighbourhood Italian-style wine bar and bottle shop have caused a stir in the streets of Mount Hawthorn, presumably because of their handmade pasta, European inspired wine, stylish decor and classic Italian all-day cafe and bar feel.

Magnifico.

12. Willi’s

If you haven’t heard, The Royal has revamped their ground floor venue in truly funky style to bring us Willi’s.

The menu brings simple pub grub to a new level of class, and lavish decor fitted with marble tabletops somehow manages to combine chic and edgy.

The cocktails? Dazzling. The wine list? Top-notch.

We know where our after-work stop is.
