4 New Luxury Hotels Coming to Perth

Perth may be suffering from a post-mining boom hangover or sorts, but that hasn’t stopped the investment by a number of international hotel groups into our city, as our tourism and conference events industry grows.

Three new luxury hotels in the Perth CBD are under construction or about to be, as well as the new six-star crown towers at Crown Casino, Burswood opening soon.

On the banks of the Swan River, located between the Lucky Shag and the Bell Tower, work has begun on SKS Group’s DoubleTree by Hilton.

The 241-room hotel will sit on the Old Perth Port site and is likely to become a landmark on Perth’s foreshore.

The development will comprise a five-storey podium that will house the hotel reception, restaurants, meeting and conference spaces, operational facilities, corporate offices and two storeys of guest rooms.

The remaining guests rooms will be accommodated in a 13-storey tower above the podium.

Portions of the hotel will be built on pylons over the Swan River and all visitors will be able to enjoy panoramic views of the Swan River and Perth cityscape.

The four-star Hilton hotel is scheduled for completion by September 2018.

Easily one of the most anticipated and talked about projects happening right now is the commencement of construction on Perth’s very own Ritz Carlton.

The five-star hotel in Elizabeth Quay will bring luxury accommodation, dining, entertainment and retail options to Perth’s waterfront.

The 204-room Ritz Carlton Hotel will also be joined by 379 residential apartments as part of The Towers $400 million development.

Australian company Probuild have partnered with international developer Far East Consortium to deliver the project.

Round building shapes and floor-to-ceiling windows will capitalise on river views thanks to design by Cottee Parker Architects.

Planning Minister Donna Faragher said the construction of The Ritz Carlton at Elizabeth Quay marked the return of the prestigious hotel brand to Australia after a 10-year hiatus.

“This development will attract tourists and residents to enjoy the many features of Elizabeth Quay that have been enjoyed by more than two million visitors,” Mrs Faragher said.

“From the Liberal National Government’s $440 million investment, we expect to receive more than $230 million in land sales and attract a further $2 billion in investment as development of private buildings gets underway.”

The building will also have a six-star rating with the best possible acoustic, thermal, energy efficiency and water saving technology.

The project is being built by Australian company Probuild and is anticipated to open in 2019.

The former FESA House site will be transformed into a 350-room five-star Westin Hotel in 2017.

Adding to Perth’s growing accommodation space, the Westin is the first in the city to be developed under the State Government’s hotel incentives policy.

“The hotel will deliver a massive boost for tourism, providing much needed rooms in Perth’s CBD for leisure and corporate visitors to Western Australia,” Tourism Minister Liza Harvey said.

The hotel will be built by BGC and operated by the Starwood Group.

In addition, the site will also support a mixed use and retail development that will include 30,000sqm of office space.
