1. Domestic violence “removalists” see a peak in calls for help
Ipswich-based removal company, Siaki and Sons, has been taking four domestic violence removal jobs a week.
But that number has spiked during coronavirus to about ten.
The reports fuel fears that stay-at-home orders would exasperate domestic violence.

2. Almost a third of Aussies gaining weight during isolation, study finds
New research finds about 30 per cent of Australians surveyed are putting on weight during quarantine.
The weight gain was particularly pronounced among young adults.
The Australian Lockdown report found more than half of all millennials were eating more junk food, while a third of all those surveyed admitted they had put on weight.

3. Calls for JobSeeker increase to remain after virus
Almost 60 per cent of Australians think the JobSeeker top up should stay in place even when the virus is over, new polling finds.
The payment has been doubled to about $1100 a fortnight but the government says it will return to $550 at the end of September.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said the Government had been clear from the beginning that the measures were temporary.

4. Doctors find new dangerous coronavirus side effects
Health professionals around the world have been reporting patterns in symptoms not originally associated with the virus.
For one “Covid toe” has been the tag given to strange lesions on the feet, detected frequently in children.
But new reports from doctors indicate a more worrying symptom could come with coronavirus – blood clots.
Worryingly, the risk of a clot can remain long after respiratory symptoms subside.

5. China mocks US in bizarre lego cartoon
China’s state news agency Xinhua has released an animated video mocking the US over its response to COVID-19.
The video shows China taking precautions and warning the US about the virus, while the US – represented by a lego Statue of Liberty – calls the the Chinese “liars” throughout.
The back and forth shows the US “contradicting” itself, and ends with a sarcastic line that makes no qualms with mocking America.
“That’s what I love about you Americans,” the Chinese figure says.
“Your consistency.”
