Aventuur has been selected by the Western Australian Government to deliver an $80 million Perth Surf Park to be located in Cockburn.

It has been long rumoured but now the rumours are reality. Aventuur, has been appointed by the Western Australia government to build a Surf Park in Perth.

Despite having some of the best beaches in the world and not to mention surf beaches at our doorstep, Perth will become the home of a world-class surf park.

The planned $80 million surf park will be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, sitting on a site at Prinsep Road in Jandakot, adjacent to the Kwinana Freeway and the Cockburn Central train station.

What we know so far is that there will be a next-generation Wavegarden Cove surfing lagoon, boutique surf hotel, health & wellness centre, co-working offices, functions and event spaces, performance academy, beach club and restaurants – not to mention the development will provide Perth with an innovative surf sports, recreation, leisure and entertainment hub just a short drive south from the CBD.

What about the waves

With increasingly overcrowded surf breaks, it can be intimidating for newcomers, beginners and casual surfers. And unlike many other sports, surfing is reliant on the right conditions (tide, swell and winds) being present during daylight hours, and at a time when you’re free to ride waves.

Aventuur’s surf park proposal will overcome these challenges and deliver a surfing experience for surfers of all ages and abilities, within a safe, controlled and supportive environment that is open day and night, year-round.

Aventuur Perth Surf Park will create 25 different waves within the park’s surfing lagoon, from knee-high whitewater for children and beginners, through to powerful barrels and steep pointbreak-style waves for experienced surfers.

When will the Perth surf park open

The initial plan is for the surf park to open in 2024 – subject to all requirements being met and construction starting in late 2022.
