Tucked away in the heart of Perth a world of class and a touch of luxury awaits at Parmelia Hilton on Mill Street.
All set for my first stay here, I walked into the lobby and was instantly hit with the smell of fancy hotel (you know the one) as I made my way through a simple and delightful check-in and up the elevators to the 10th floor.
Arriving at room 1021 I eagerly stepped through the door to find my large suite oozing with luxury and exclusivity.
The interior of the suite was old-style classic mixed with modern chic, featuring marble stone benchtops, dim lighting, dark wood furnishing and a simple palette of brown, grey and beige with a pop of burgundy. It’s an absolute sight to walk into, and left me overwhelmed by the sheer space and simple beauty of it all.
Classic Meets Modern – The Suite
The King Premier Suite features a spacious king bedroom with a separate living area, private balcony access, a large bathroom housing a bathtub and walk-in robe, two flat-screen TVs plus a minibar complete with a coffee machine.
The room was in pristine condition upon arrival, seemingly untouched by anyone else before me. The champagne was popped as we took a seat in the living area and relaxed into the couch cushions, soaking up the natural light flowing through the sheer curtains.
The bathroom was a particular highlight, with a soaking tub big enough to fit three of me in and a marble feature wall that worked perfectly with the clean, white interior lit up by strip lights.
The balcony ran the entire length of the room, and although there’s not much to look at apart from buildings in the middle of the city it was a nice breath of fresh air all the same. The central location of the hotel also meant we were just a short walk away from some of the best bars and eats on offer in Perth, so no Uber necessary if you want to have a few drinks.
The bed was a dream to sink into with ample pillows and space for a relaxing night’s sleep supported by a timber frame and dark brown leather bedhead for a touch of elegance and warmth.

A Dining Experience – Samuel On Mills
After relaxing into our stay we headed to the lobby for our three-course meal at Samuels on Mill with big expectations after seeing the room.Â
Walking in, I was hit with the same relaxing ambience that echoed throughout the hotel.
The interior was dark and moody, lit with a few warm lights to create an intimate space with a laidback but still luxurious atmosphere. A wall of wine separates the bar area from the dining area filled with bottles lit up in a dazzling display, and you can see right into the action with an open window at the end putting the kitchen on display.
Samuels team creates inspired modern cuisine, making the most of Local Western Australian produce in their dishes. It’s a fine dining experience with a burst of fresh flavours in every dish.
Starting off strong, our pork belly starter was the highlight of the night with perfectly cooked pork complemented by the sweet flavours of pineapple and cucumber. The only problem with this one was there simply wasn’t enough!
The accompanying Strawberry Sour cocktail recommended to me by our waitress was a delicious mix of sweet, creamy, fruity goodness- although if you don’t usually go super sweet, this might be a little much for you.
The mains didn’t fail to disappoint, with tender lamb, rib-eye steak and hand-cut chips delighting our tastebuds even further.
Finishing with a bang, the dessert absolutely knocked our socks off as we dove into dark chocolate, creamy cheesecake, stewed local strawberries, refreshing raspberry and strawberry sorbet and crunchy honeycomb in an explosion of sweet, rich flavours.
