Freo could potentially finish this game on the same win-loss record as the Crows… Who would have thought?!

The Fremantle Dockers come into the indigenous round off a handy 35-point win over Carlton at Domain Stadium last weekend, giving them a 6-3 win-loss record after round nine. They now travel to Adelaide Oval to take on the current ladder-leaders Adelaide Crows on Saturday night.

Freo’s pocket-rocket Michael Walters was a stand out last week against the Blues, he finished with 3 goals and 27 disposals and was the spark Freo needed to lift in the second half, after they entered the long break trailing by two points. Lachie Neale was back to his best, finishing with 37 disposals and a goal, while Connor Blakely continued his good form in his new tagging role, finishing with 33 disposals, including 19 tackles.

Some sad news out of the Dockers camp in the lead up to this week’s game, with the mighty man Aaron Sandilands being left out of the line-up due to hamstring tightness. It is expected that he will miss just the one week at this stage, fingers and toes are crossed that he pulls up well after a little break. Jon Griffin has been included into the side to replace Sandi in the ruck, while Darcy Tucker comes in for Ed Langdon, who is out with a knee injury.

The Dockers are set to make history during the Sir Doug Nicholls indigenous round this week, with eight indigenous players named in the squad to take on the Crows. If there are no late changes to the line-up, Fremantle will break the previous record of seven indigenous players in a side, naming Jon Griffin, Michael Johnson, Brad Hill, Stephen Hill, Michael Walters, Joel Hamling, Danyle Pearce and Brady Grey in the 22 for Saturday. The Dockers will wear a jumper designed by past player Dale Kickett and number one ticket holder and Aboriginal artist Richard Walley.

The meaning behind the jumper design:

The Crows had a great start to the 2017 season, and even after suffering two recent losses, they are still sitting on top of the ladder. They will come into this round off a huge 80-point win over the Brisbane Lions last week. Brisbane were in the contest early however, when the Crows switched on, they never looked back. The Lions kicked just four goals after quarter-time to Adelaide’s 18, four of those from Charlie Cameron. Skipper Tex Walker, Eddie Betts, Tom Lynch and Hugh Greenwood all finished with three goals each.

I have a feeling this is going to be a game that you will not want to miss! Freo’s Connor Blakely will likely be tasked with Rory Sloane to tag this week, so keep an eye out for that match-up.

Believe it or not, I am tipping the Fremantle Dockers to beat the Adelaide Crows by 4 points!
