West Coast Eagles have been in fine form lately, can they continue their winning streak on the road?

In one word- yes. I think they can! The West Coast Eagles will be looking to get their fourth win in a row when they face Essendon at Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The Eagles come into this round off an eight point win over the Western Bulldogs at home last week, managing to hold off the reigning champs in the final quarter… JUST. A win is a win!

Coach Adam Simpson has made one change to the Eagles line-up this week with the inclusion of Jamie Cripps for an omitted Josh Hill. Cripps has missed the last three matches with an ankle injury. It was originally thought that he could miss up to eight weeks with the injury however, his recovery has gone a lot smoother (and quicker) than expected. Hill has been listed as an emergency, along with Drew Petrie and Jackson Nelson.

Goal kicking accuracy was a concern for West Coast last week, duel Coleman Medallist Josh Kennedy finished the game with three goals and SIX behinds, while Mark LeCras finished with zero goals and three behinds. Both Kennedy and LeCras are usually fairly damaging in front of goal, yet they couldn’t make it work in their favour against the Bulldogs. Andrew Gaff was a stand out last week for all the right reasons, finishing with 35 disposals and a goal.

The Bombers will come into this round on a high after stunning Geelong at the MCG last week and recording a 17-point win. Joe Daniher kicked five goals, Anthony McDonald- Tipungwuti continued his incredible form and finished with three goals, as did Orazio Fantasia and James Stewart. The Bombers are an exciting team to watch right now and they will not make it easy for West Coast at Etihad this week, that’s for sure.

SIDE NOTE: History will be made at the #AFLDonsEagles game on Sunday with Eleni Glouftsis becoming the first female field umpire EVER, to umpire an official AFL game! HUGE congratulations to Eleni, you go girlfriend!

West Coast Eagles are going to need everyone to bring their A-Game this week. Kennedy looks like he is his own harshest critic (judging by the look of disappointment on his face after each miss last week) so I expect that he will have worked hard at training during the week to resolve any issues, and will be back to his Coleman Medal-winning best! LeCras does have a tendency to be a tad inconsistent however, I think he will also bounce back against the Dons.

I’m predicting another close finish this week and tipping the West Coast Eagles to beat Essendon by 7 points!
