It will be an epic battle of the forward lines this week when West Coast Eagles take on Adelaide Crows!

West Coast Eagles didn’t do a whole lot to silence their critics last week with an 8-point loss to Western Bulldogs… away from home. Even though it was a fairly close game, the Bulldogs finished with WAY more possessions than the Eagles, 124 more to be exact! West Coast’s midfielders are going to need to step it up this week against Adelaide to ensure that they are getting majority of the ball, and then move the ball effectively into their forward 50.

Screen Shot 2016-06-09 at 9.37.50 pmAdelaide have been looking good this season and to be honest, if it weren’t for West Coast’s home ground advantage, I would be probably be siding with the Crows… Am I allowed to say that? Both sides have big forward lines- West Coast have powerhouse duo Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling, not to mention Mark LeCras who often kicks a couple of goals a game. I am assuming that Josh Kennedy will come out firing this week to make up for his average game against the Bulldogs so I am tipping him to be the main goal scorer for the Eagles.

The Crows have big Tex Walker (love heart eyes emoji), Josh Jenkins who kicked 7 goals last week in Adelaide’s huge win over St Kilda, Eddie Betts who can pull goals out of anywhere/anything, plus Tom Lynch and Mitch McGovern who have both been dangerous in the forward line. Speaking of ‘McGovern’, West Coast get their own McGovern back this week! Jeremy McGovern returns to the side, which is a big in for the West Coast defence, the McGovern brothers are quite likely to play on each other.

Screen Shot 2016-06-09 at 9.28.26 pmSo how generous will the ‘home ground advantage’ fairy be this week? West Coast are coming off a narrow loss, Adelaide are coming off a huge win. Will last week’s momentum (or lack of) play a part in the game?

It will be a close match between 7th and 8th on the ladder this week. I have faith that the Eagles will continue their success at Domain Stadium, so I am tipping West Coast Eagles to beat Adelaide by 4 points.
