Look out AFL- the young Dockers are the real deal!

The Fremantle Dockers had an EPIC win over Richmond last week to record their fifth win from their last six games. Once again, I was on the verge of having a panic attack watching Dockers veteran (and hero) David Mundy kick for goal AFTER THE SIREN had sounded, kicking truly to record a two point win at the MCG. Holy moly, these nail-biter finishes are killing me!

The Dockers will come into this week riding the momentum wave from their win away from home last round. They take on Carlton at Domain Stadium on Sunday and will be keen to continue their winning ways and record another four points. One thing that will really help them, besides the win, is winning by A LOT, to boost their percentage. They are current sitting just outside of the top eight on the AFL ladder, purely due to lack of percentage.

Coach Ross Lyon has included speedster Stephen Hill back into the squad this week, who had been sidelined with a hamstring injury. In his absence, his brother Brad has been carving up in Freo’s midfield, finishing with 28 disposals and a goal last week. Michael Walters has been thriving in his new role outside of the forward line, finishing with 38 disposals against the Tigers, while Mundy, Shane Kersten, Matt Taberner and finished with two goals each.

The Blues come into this week off a 19-point loss to the Saints so will be looking to get back on track against the Dockers. David Cuningham has been included in the Carlton line-up to head west, for an omitted Simon White. Patrick Cripps was impressive for the Blues last week, finishing on 30 disposals and two goals, Marc Murphy not far behind him with 28 disposals and two goals.

Cam McCarthy was quiet for the Fremantle Dockers last week so I expect him to fire up on his home turf on Sunday. Taberner has been a helpful inclusion for Freo in the past two weeks, he is a big body in the forward line and has been a strong option for the midfield to kick to inside 50. I look forward to seeing the Hill brothers back out on the field together!

I’m tipping the Fremantle Dockers to beat Carlton by 24 points!
