FREEEEOOO WAY TO GO!

The Fremantle Dockers have recorded their first #AFLW win of the season, with a 16-point victory over the Blues at Domain Stadium. Both teams had a lot to play for- Fremantle were desperate to get their first win on the board, and Carlton needed the win to keep their Grand Final hopes alive. The Dockers put on a show in front of a home crowd in sunny Perth and were able to sing their team song after the game for the first time!

Fremantle were fierce from the get-go, kicking three unanswered goals in the first term. They carried the momentum for majority of the game and held a lead for the entirety. The Dockers played tight footy to restrict Carlton’s scoring opportunities, and transitioned the ball well into their forward line. Strong marks inside 50 (Freo 10 – Carlton 2) were vital, and even though the accuracy wasn’t 100%, they managed to keep possession long enough to convert on the scoreboard.

Dockers skipper Kara ‘Juddy’ Donnellan was outstanding, finishing on 24 disposals, eight tackles and two goals, and was deservingly named Best on Ground. Lara Filocamo, Stacey Barr, Ebony Antonio and Gemma Houghton finished with a goal each. Darcy Vescio was the stand out for the Blues, finishing with three goals.

Fremantle will now travel to Melbourne to take on the Demons on March 18, in their last game of the season.
