Yes, that’s right Amplifier now has Rock ‘N’ Roll bowling.
This week, Perth live music mainstay Amplifier will become Australia’s first rock ‘n’ roll bowling destination.
The venue, which has undergone significant changes over the past few months and will officially relaunch on Friday as Amplifier Bowl.
Amplifier’s warehouse bar area has been transformed into a bowling alley with three Kegel-style lanes. A shorter, more challenging version of the game, Kegel is played with nine Kegels or “skittles”, in contrast to traditional tenpin bowling. Games start from as little as $5, with special offers and free bowling nights on the horizon.
The bowling alley extends into a renovated outdoor patio, where a stage will soon be installed to allow for outdoor entertainment, allowing punters to make the most of Perth’s beautiful weather.
Live music will continue as usual in the 300-capacity indoor space, as it has done since doors opened in 2000.
Amplifier, which has consistently operated as a live music venue for almost 20 years, will continue its rich history of supporting live music with bands and DJs scheduled every weekend.
Opening night will feature Nahvana, a special Nirvana tribute led by Perth music stalwart and End of Fashion frontman, Justin Burford.
While Perth is home to both live music venues and bowling alleys, none provide both under the one roof. The marriage of live music and bowling at Amplifier Bowl follows in the tradition of internationally renowned hotspots like New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl and Los Angeles’ Highland Park Bowl.
Venue management has also reintroduced glassware at the bar and upgraded key amenities at the venue, including the lavatories. Through the refreshed venue facilities and the provision of fun, affordable activities, the new venue seeks to increase patron and staff comfort, deter anti-social behaviour and provide more inclusive entertainment options to patrons across all ages.
“The improvements are aplenty, with a brand-new bar, modified outdoor space; plastic cups have been ditched and the glassware is back! The new Amplifier Bowl is all about Beers! Bowl! And Rock N Roll. If you haven’t been to Amps in a while, it’s well worth a look; and if you’re a newbie to Amplifier Bowl, then you’re in for an entertaining and social interactive treat unmatched in Perth. Here’s to the next 19 years!’
To allow more people to enjoy the venue’s new facilities, Amplifier Bowl will also see extended trading hours. From Friday, the venue will operate from Wednesday through Saturday, from 6PM ‘til late.
Amplifier Bowl officially opens this Friday, 12 April. For more information, head to amplifiercapitol.com.au.
