Australia Day Perth Events Guide
There are many fantastic events happening across Perth and the metropolitan area on Australia Day, not just fireworks in the evening. There are dozens of annual citizenship ceremonies, breakfasts, sausage sizzles, swimming competitions, festivals, entertainment, competitions and much more. Many local councils hosts events throughout the day.

Here’s some of the events taking place across the city.
The City of Perth
Lots happening across Australia Day in the City of Perth, with citizenship ceremonies starting off the day.
Free events from 3pm including an air show in the late afternoon before the fireworks at 8pm. There are lots of free activities and events taking place, including a giant playground and carnival rides on Langley Park and an Indigenous Concert at the Supreme Court Gardens.

Bassendean
The Town of Bassendean celebrates ‘what’s great about Australia’ at Ashfield Reserve.
A family friendly event, with food vendors, live music, Samba, DJs, an appearance by Perth Glory, fireworks and much more. 5.00 – 9.00pm.

Coogee Beach
The City of Cockburn holds a Coogee Beach Festival on Aus Day.
The local supermarket is set to run out of watermelon, with the day including a watermelon eating competition and prizes for best watermelon hat. There’s also a Sandcastle building competition, Aboriginal basket weaving, Water Slides, live performances, roving Entertainers and more.

Australia Day Coogee Beach Festival
Cottesloe
The Town of Cottesloe, Town of Mosman Park and Shire of Peppermint Grove combine to host an annual Australia Day Perth celebration with a Free BBQ breakfast following formal Citizenship ceremony proceedings. Bring along a picnic rug or folding chair as limited seating is provided.
City of South Perth
The annual citizenship ceremony, public event and BBQ Breakfast takes place by the big flag on the foreshore with participation of the Australian Defence Forces. The event takes place between 8am and 12pm.
From 4pm, a world record attempt will take place at Sir James Mitchell Park – the “Great Aussie Blood Group” where a ‘Guinness World Record’ attempt is going to be made, for the worlds largest human blood drop at 6pm.
Perry Lakes
Celebrate Australia Day Perth under the shady gum trees at Perry Lakes. There will be plenty of fantastic children’s entertainment provided on the day, together with a free breakfast generously supplied by the Lions Club of Floreat.

Claremont
Sausage sizzle and a swim. Enjoy the day at the pool in Claremont and enjoy a snag the old fashioned way at the Claremont Aquatic Centre from 8am to 11am.
Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour
The Fremantle harbour will be a vibrant place this Australia Day, Fishing Boat Harbour Traders says.
While the City of Fremantle has scheduled activities for the 28th of January, that’s not stopping the local business groups in the area.
The Freo Fishing Boat Harbour event “will be reminiscent of the original Cracker Nights which were proudly started in Fishing Boat Harbour 10 years ago,” Cicerellos said.
The fireworks will be fired off from the end of the Fremantle Sailing Club groyne, back towards Fishing Boat Harbour, from 8pm.

Gosnells
Australia Day Big Breakfast held in partnership with the Rotary Club of Gosnells and presented by Act-Belong-Commit.
8am – 11am Centennial Pioneer Park Amphitheatre
Kalamunda
The family-friendly event will include free entertainment, free barbeque hire and all the regular fun attractions of the Kalamunda Water Park.
Armadale
In an annual Australian tradition, celebrate Australia Day with a jam-packed evening of festivities and fireworks at Minnawarra Park, Armadale.
Before this event even begins, Minnawarra Park is dotted with young families and groups of friends donning the colours of the Australian flag and embracing the community celebration in this hassle-free carnival atmosphere.
Bursting with Australian pride, the City of Armadale invites you to picnic across the parks, indulge in the activities including the water fun park, carnival amusement rides and of course tempt your tastebuds with the variety of food stalls.

The Marina Mindarie Australia Day
Celebrate Australia Day at The Marina, Mindarie! Keep the kids entertained from 11am – 4pm at our giant sandpit with free activities including a jumping castle, surf simulator, Aussie temporary tattoos, the big dig, Vegemite finger painting and a bubble zone.

Rockingham
The City of Rockingham hosts Australia Day at Churchill Park with fireworks, for the first time.
begin at 5pm and include live entertainment from local performers and free kids’ activities including sand card art, giant games, face painting, amusements, rides and more. For the first time, fireworks will end the celebrations at 8pm, providing a spectacular display over the water.

Mandurah
Mandurah hosts the 2017 Australia Day Swim, with competitions conducted at Halls Head beach.
The event will be conducted according to MSWA Local OWS Rules, utilising a rectangular course set in the boating exclusion zone a Doddi’s Beach on Halls Head Parade, Halls Head.
