The Bassendean Hotel is set to be revitalised with major renovations commencing this week.

Family owned and operated hospitality group ARK, have been developing pubs for over 45 years, including some of Perth’s most loved venues Market Grounds, Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub, Scarborough Beach Bar and many more – now their sights are set on The Bassendean Hotel.

ARK Group General Manager Adam Kapinkoff says the hotel will have a strong community, family and food focus with special attention paid to the rich history of the town of Bassendean and the role the venue has played in the area.

“We’re excited to increase the pubs capacity to 750, provide a variety of spaces and experiences for guests to enjoy and pay homage to the history, stories and characters of the hotel over the past 90 years,” says Kapinkoff.

Running the venue when the doors open will be Bassendean local Mark Patterson who says it will be the groups most challenging but rewarding venture yet.

“Living in the area myself, I’m excited for the development to inject some life into Old Perth Road and we’re looking forward to delivering a pub everyone can enjoy.”

The development will be a catalyst for some activation and investment on Old Perth Road, particularly the western aspect, providing a place for guests to socialise and relax over good food, local beer, cocktails and wines with family and friends. Some of the key features in the hotel will be new courtyards and beer gardens, outdoor bars, a state-of-the-art sports bar and a bespoke kids playground for families to enjoy.

Executive Chef Matt Powell will be at the helm of the venue’s new menu, with a focus on local produce and fresh twists on pub classics. The new large commercial kitchen will be installed downstairs with the addition of woodfired pizza ovens.

ARK Hospitality Group plan to re-introduce the community to their local by early Summer 2022.
