WA records 0 new COVID-19 cases overnight.
For the first time since March 12 – Western Australia has recorded no new cases of COVID-19 overnight in the latest Perth coronavirus update from Mark McGowan.
“We had zero additional cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours,” WA’s Premier Mark McGowan said.
“The strict measures introduced, the tough border closures and the regional travel restrictions — these have all played a major role in our success in minimising the spread and the impact of COVID-19.”
Despite the remarkable achievement, Mr McGowan said WA is unlikely to lift restrictions until health authorities report consistently low numbers.
Coronavirus snapshot:
- 545 confirmed cases in WA
- 221 of which are linked to cruise ships
- 426 people have recovered from COVID-19 in WA
- 6 people are in ICU
In other good news WA has lifted alcohol restrictions.
Today Racing and Gaming Minister Paul Papalia announced the restrictions on takeaway alcohol introduced as part of the response to COVID-19 have been lifted by the State Government.
Also, the recent announcement from Mark McGowan as the East Perth Power Station Redevelopment moves forward is providing further good news and outlook for WA during these trying times.
