Only Australian citizens as of 9pm tonight will be able to enter the country.

Off the back off statements by PM Scott Morrison to the media at yesterday’s coronavirus national address, Australia will be shutting its borders at 9pm AEDT on March 20th, with a blanket travel ban on non-Australian citizens and residents from entering the country.

Australia will only be allowing Australia citizens and residents back into the country – making this the first travel ban of this magnitude in Australian history.

Those allowed to return from overseas will be forced to self-isolate upon their return for 14 days.

Australia overall has seen an increase from 567 to now 700 in one day across the country – an increase of 120% in just one day.

The ban comes at a time when Australia as a nation has just witnessed its highest daily spike, which could mean we might be too late in self-isolating ourselves from the rest of the world – especially considering the coronavirus was an overseas virus to start with.
