Costco the US discount giant to open the first Perth warehouse in March.
Reported back in February 2018, Costco had plans to expand into the Perth market. Those plans now seem to be ahead of schedule.
The discount giant had planned to open the first warehouse located within the Perth Airport precinct across the road from DFO in May 2020, though reports are suggesting that Costco could be opening their warehouse doors in March 2020, as they hope to be open ahead of Easter next year.
But it doesn’t stop there with Costco also announcing their plans for a second Perth store in the southern suburbs at Casuarina plans were advancing for the new store.
What’s big deal about Costco?
For starters, it’s big… really big!
More than triple the size of your average supermarket, the warehouse is set to cover 14,000sq m.
Perth Airport Chief Corporate Services Officer Debra Blaskett said Costco would revolutionise shopping in Perth.
“Costco delivers thousands of products – from day-to-day groceries to clothing and electronics – at heavily discounted prices for its members,” Ms Blaskett said.
The first Costco warehouse in Perth will also have an Optical Centre, Hearing Aid Centre, Tyre Centre, and a petrol station – making it no ordinary shopping experience.
Most importantly the introduction of Costco to the WA landscape will give punters more shopping options – disrupting the market dominated by Aldi, Woolworths and Coles.
It pays to be a Costco Perth Member
Costco members pay up to $60 a year to be able to shop at the warehouses and buy from an unbeatable range of goods at considerable discount prices.
Memberships for Perth customers will be available online from November and at the store four-six weeks before the opening.
