When we posted a tweet about who’s side are you on there were some people that replied – who cares Perth’s not in it. Well that would be true if in fact people who grew up in NSW or QLD didn’t live in Perth.
What Perth seems to forget is that while we love our AFL and West Coast and Freo are the top sporting teams in the state, the same can be said for NSW and QLD, except instead of AFL it is all about NRL.Â
So does Perth care about #Origin?

Well for starters #QLDer trended in Perth so that is a good start. (Well good if you support the Maroons)

Happy #QLDer!
A #StateofOrigin loss doesn’t hurt any less 4,000kms away. Just ending up yelling at TV on your own @NSWRL #rugbyleaguefanaloneinWA

I get the same look at home and when talking about it in the office
The Verdict
When all that is said and done, the majority of Perth/WA might not be major State of Origin fans, there are though a lot of passionate east-coasters who love their NRL. I for one am passionate about Origin even though I am born and raised in WA. Perhaps because my oldman is from NSW and have it was a traditiona to always sit down and watch the Origin is why I love it so much. It is hands down one of Australia’s best sporting events and I would encourage everyone to give it a watch, because hey 5 million tweets can’t be wrong! #UptheBlues!
