The sentence ‘new cocktail bar’ is one we always like to hear, so imagine our joy when we found out Terrarium was heading into town with a stunning new two-story cocktail and spirits bar.
Officially opening its doors to the public this Wednesday (July 27), the stylish yet slightly moody hangout is the brainchild of legendary bartender David Stucken. He’s been pouring at iconic joints like Bar Lafayette, Long Chim, and The Ritz over his time, and snagging a few cocktail comp awards over the years – safe to say, the place is in good hands.
The Terrarium is a combination of good times, booze, and lush indoor plants, with a monster collection of thriving greens that would put even the craziest of house plant owners to shame. It will span two levels just across the road from Howard’s Groove Coffee right in the heart of the Perth CBD. The space is filled with greenery, timber tones, hand-cut jarrah wood tables, and plush blue velvet seating all centered around the large terrarium it’s named after. It’s essentially jungle vibes meets chic modern bar, all topped off with a breezy rooftop terrace that will be perfect for those summertime sips.

Now, let’s talk drinks, because we’re excited about this menu. I’m talking rum-soaked raspberry and papaya cocktail creations, tropical dirty martinis made with preserved pineapple, a large whisky range and all your favourite gins with the likes of Archie Rose and Aviation. Foodwise, the eats will be more focused on bar snack kind of plates rather than all out restaurant meals, and you’ll be able to nibble on dishes like duck fat potatoes or pumpkin and goats cheese bruschetta.
Book in your post-work cocktail, lock in a girl’s cocktail afternoon on the terrace, or keep a night free to head down with the group and check it out – this is one place you’ll want to experience.
When you’re done with Terrarium, get out and explore some of Perth’s best wine bars or enjoy a tipple at some sneaky hidden bars around town.
