Where To Find The Best Dim Sum In Perth

Get ready to loosen those pants as you eat your way through the best Perth dim sum restaurants.

Dim Sum holds a special place in our foodie hearts, and lucky for us Perth has some banging spots whipping out pork buns and steamed dumplings that really put the Yum in Yum Cha.

It’s fast, it’s tasty, it’s the perfect mix of crunchy, steamy, savoury and sweet in bite-sized pieces, and it’s arguably the greatest part of any Chinese feast.

You can grab it in any humble Chinese takeaway store, or up the ante and sit down for a full-blown dim sum marathon in a restaurant setting.

Here are our top picks for the best Perth dim sum restaurants.

Miss Chow’s

Miss chow’s has to be one of Perth most iconic dumplings spots! With 4 locations we are spoiled for choice of their MSG, artificial additives and nut-free dining. Known for their dumplings and cocktails, it would be rude not to indulge in a selection next time you are in need of some dumplings.

Our favourites have to be the Chow’s Assorted Dumplings, offering a range of their finest.

Shy John Brewery & Yum Cha

This two-storey dim sum joint in Yagan Square has been causing a stir in the dim sum community since it opened. Shy John Brewery & Yum Cha has absolutely hit the nail on the head with some signature dumplings that have sure got our attention.

Their signature prawn dumplings, truffle scallop and prawn dumplings and classic shanghai dumplings are so good you’ll probably order seconds. If you’re into truffle, I’d highly recommend the truffle mushroom dumplings which are simple yet incredibly tasty. If bao is your style, their BBQ pork bun is also a big winner on the menu.

Top tip: make sure you order some salt & pepper squid tentacles to start, thank me later.

BamBamboo

If you haven’t heard of BamBamboo, I’m going to assume you’ve been living under a rock.

Praised by dim sum lovers everywhere, this modern yet authentic joint is a fave for our seasoned eaters or the perfect stepping stone for anyone new to trying dim sum. It’s as simple as walking in, ordering on one of their iPad scattered around and taking a seat while it’s cooked fresh in-house.

A must-try here? The Bao with honey BBQ chicken or one of their pan fried dumplings.

Como Garden

With a talented kitchen team specialising in yum cha and handcrafted dim sum, Como Garden is a must stop for authentic Chinese dumplings. Here you will be surrounded by friendly service, quality food and a warm atmosphere

The Wang’s Treasure House

This is as good as authentic Chinese gets.

Wang’s Treasure House is a beloved Morley spot that attracts a crowd on the regular, so be prepared for a line. Their staff are super friendly, and the service never skips a beat dishing up dim sums with speed.

Their baked buns and steamed egg yolk buns are definite stars of the show, but everything on this menu is top-notch.

Silks

If you want to go extra fancy with your dim sum for a special night then Silks is your guy.

It’s award-winning for a reason. If the prawn black gold dumpling or beef sui mai don’t get your attention straight away then the lavish, warm and glossy interior certainly will.

If you’re on a big of a budget, the $45 Yum Cha lunch is the way to go with an assorted dim sum collection from the chef plus truffle spring rolls and king prawns.

Fortune Five

Fortune Five cover all the classics with everything from steam prawn dumplings, BBQ pork buns and deep-fried spring rolls on their menu plus some more unique offerings with a baked custard and pineapple bun featuring.

It’s typically very crowded on a weekend, but it’s well worth the wait.

Joy Kitchen

Straying south, we’ve got a Freo dumpling joint up next known as Joy Kitchen.

They make all their dim sum in-house with fresh produce so you know you’re getting the real deal. You can settle in for your dumpling bonanza while overlooking the Fishing Boat Harbour for sunset and getting your hands on one of their steamed chicken dumplings or picking a banquet on the menu if you’re extra hungry.

8 On The Point Chinese Restaurant

A gorgeous fine dining experience on the waterfront is what you can expect at 8 On The Point Chinese.

The menu is fresh and innovative with a range of steamed, fried and baked options. All of it is traditionally focused with a modern, contemporary twist. The venue is completed with an alfresco-style cocktail bar, but the best part about eating here is the stunning views of the Swan River and city skyline.

Authentic Bites Dumpling House

We’re adding Authentic Bites Dumpling House to our list because of its totally worthy specials- Xiao long bao including juicy pork and kimchi pork dumplings.

The team here is inspired by a true love of dumplings, so they already tick all our boxes. Their flavours are authentic and they’ve got takeaway and delivery options too if you’re after some fresh dumplings in the comfort of your bed.

Canton Lane
