Yahava Reveals Plans for Australia’s Largest Walk-in Coffee Roastery in the Swan Valley

Yahava KoffeeWorks has unveiled ambitious plans to create Australia's largest walk-in coffee roastery, transforming the Swan Valley into a world-class coffee destination.

Yahava KoffeeWorks is brewing something big in the Swan Valley, announcing its plans for a sprawling, immersive coffee destination set to become Australia’s largest walk-in coffee roastery.

Scheduled to open in 2028, the new Yahava promises will become a landmark attraction, tripling roasting capacity, seating two-and-a-half times more patrons, and doubling drive-thru traffic.

Co-owner Alastair Ingram, who started at Yahava as a dishwasher in 2010 and now co-owns the Swan Valley location with his wife Kerry and long-term business partner Jake McAuliffe, described the vision as far beyond a typical roastery.

“Our vision isn’t just to build a bigger coffee roastery; we are going to create Australia’s premier coffee destination, where visitors can immerse themselves in the world of coffee from start to finish,” says Alastair.

Visitors will step into a multi-sensory, interactive experience designed to take the concept of ‘farm-to-cup’ to an entirely new level. Upon entry, guests will walk through hyper-realistic projections of a coffee plantation, complete with immersive sounds and visuals, before progressing through simulated coffee-processing scenes featuring projections of workers hand-sorting beans.

Then comes the dramatic reveal: giant double doors opening to unveil the expansive working roastery itself. Guests will be able to watch live roasting demonstrations, explore interactive brew bars, and sample Yahava’s signature blends and single-origin coffees.

Education will form a key pillar of the new experience, with free and paid classes in coffee blending, milk texturing, and espresso extraction. Future plans include establishing a small coffee plantation on-site for educational tours.

Adding to the appeal, Yahava’s new home will include a full kitchen, plating up everything from quick bites to substantial meals, which can be enjoyed either indoors or alfresco, accompanied by panoramic river views. Families will find plenty to love with the inclusion of a nature playground designed to keep younger visitors entertained.

Alastair says the move reflects both a necessity and a chance to realise their long-held creative ambitions.

“We’ve honestly outgrown our current space, both physically and creatively,” Alastair says. “We’ve spent the past 15 years learning how to provide remarkable coffee experiences to the public, and we have done that in a little rented shed. Now it’s time to take that experience to a new level.”

Currently employing around 65 staff, Yahava anticipates this number will almost double, creating new roles spanning retail, hospitality, roasting, horticulture, education, and customer experience.

Since its beginnings in Margaret River in 2001, Yahava has built a devoted following for its adventurous blends and approachable coffee culture. With this ambitious expansion, Yahava KoffeeWorks is setting the stage to become not just WA’s, but potentially Australia’s, ultimate coffee destination.
