Today — May 28th — is National Burger Day. Yep, there’s a day just for burgers and it’s probably the best day on the calendar.
Perth’s burger scene is on point, and there are many great burger places out there where you can enjoy a beautiful, juicy burger. If there is one thing we could rave on and on about, it’s an absolutely epic burger spot. Seriously, what is better than soft brioche buns filled with crispy bacon, thick beef patties, fried chicken, and gooey cheesy goodness? Some places are even taking it up a notch with wild creations we could only dream up.
Today is the day to knock a couple of these joints off your burger bucket list.
Short Order
Another pop-up turned permanent success, Short Order is killing it with their super soft buns and hand-made beef patties.
It’s the perfect lunch stop location for a little burger pick me up, with the Nashville Hot Chicken or BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger being our favourite go-to. Expect a wait, but it’s worth it.
Flipside Burgers
A place that comes highly recommended by almost every burger lover we know, Flipside Burgers should be at the top of your list if you’re around Fremantle today. These guys have been putting burgers in hungry hands since 2006, so it’s fair to say, they’ve honed the art. We’re big fans of the Classic and the Pear and Parmesan.
Stories Pourhouse
The newest place on this list and while it isn’t technically a burger joint, it does do what is probably the best chicken burger in the CBD. Stories Pourhouse is one of the new venues in the Yagan Square redevelopment and is well worth a visit. Try either their Spicy Fried Chicken Burger or the 14-hour Smoked Brisket Sando.
Hoodburger
Any Perth burger hunter will be well aware of Hoodburger’s reputation as the best in – confirmed by the usual long lines anytime you pay a visit.
Raved about for its insane cheeseburgers, succulent flavours and huge chip servings that have kept loyal customers coming back again and again. It’s also the perfect hangover cure, so pop in on a Sunday to revive yourself with some of the best burgers in Perth.
Meet & Bun
We, along with many other Perth burger lovers, regularly frequent Meet & Bun.
You’ll love every bite of their handcrafted burgers, with so much juicy goodness you’ll for sure need a handful of napkins.
Our top picks are the Dark Knight, Chilli Chilli Bang Bang and Danny’s Southern Fried Chicken. It would also be rude not to grab their cheesy fries on the side, we don’t make the rules.
Upper Hand Burgers
With two locations in Leederville and Swanbourne, Upper Hand Burgers do a lot right. The sides are crave-worthy and oh so moreish, infusing Asian influences that bring a fusion of flavours. We recommend the famous Chinese BBQ roast duck fries, tofu poppers, and Taiwanese fried chicken — each bite is a culinary adventure.
Two Stacks
Up there with some of the best darn smash burgers we’ve ever tried, Two Stacks has well and truly earned its place in the Perth burger hall of fame.
No trip to Freo is complete without a stop here. The menu keeps it super simple, but every option is 10/10. We can’t recommend enough, especially the Out-N-In. Heaven!
Peach Pit
If not for epic burgers, for the coastal beach vibes and views.
Peach Pit is the ultimate Scarbs hangout, sitting pretty beachfront in a laidback lush pub setting. The American-style burgers are a perfect Sunday afternoon treat, washed down with a refreshing cocktail or Summer Spritz. Keep an eye out for their burgers of the month, there are sure to be some goodies coming up.
Hello Harry
We’ve already established that burgers plus beer is the ultimate workday fix-up, so Hello Harry is an obvious choice when looking for a chilled hang spot in Subi.
Their burger options are varied, and you’ll be keen to wrap your hands around them again and again after one bite. It’s fresh and simple, and just the right spot to satisfy those lunchtime cravings.
Christo’s
The Perth burger crowd are super passionate about this little Landsdale local.
Christo’s family-run lunch bar is seriously acing it on the chicken burger front, nailing the perfect balance of crispy and juicy. No matter how packed the space gets, you’ll always find the staff serving up super friendly vibes and slinging out a 10/10 feed every time.
Our hot picks would be the OG or Fried Chicken.
3230 Smoke & Grill
O-M-G good burgers in insane stacks, 3230 Smoke & Grill is slowly becoming a new favourite and a must-have on any burger list.
Their smoked meats are melt-in-your-mouth good, and stacking them up is highly encouraged by staff. We love a good spicy fix, and their Flamin’ smashed beef patty, Spiced Bird and Hot Chick have our hearts.
Burger Freak
We will never not recommend Burger Freak for their whacky menu of goodies.
They are cooking up some absolutely wild creations that will require a commitment to finish, but so, so worth it. They’ve perfected the gooey cheese ratio and crispy bacon technique, and they also serve up killer Monsta Shakes you’ll struggle to get through after a meal.
RoyAl’s
One of our favourites when it comes to the best burgers in Perth is the sensational RoyAl’s.

A must-stop if you’re ever wandering through Fremantle Markets, and now settling into their new North Perth location, Eggspot has made a real name for itself and has shot onto our best burgers in Perth list.
Aside from their totally grammable looks, the soft brioche buns, scrambled egg and crispy fillings won’t disappoint.
Varsity
Wrapping up our best burgers in Perth list is with a crowd-pleaser, Varsity knows how to do it right.
The sports bar vibes are crazy good, and you can chow down on your fave burger while catching the latest game with beer on tap and plenty of boozy cocktails. The burgers are totally downright tasty, and it’s really just the ideal spot to spend a weekend lunch yelling at the screen with mates.
