Get your chicken-y fix at these Perth chicken joints.
If you like chicken, then this list was made for you.
It might inspire great debate, but it can easily be argued that chicken is one of the greatest proteins around to devour.
Versatile in nature, spanning across many different cuisines and cooking styles, it can be transformed into so many diverse styles. While not an exhaustive list by any means, we’ve pulled together some that we particularly love here in Perth so you can get clucking to make your way through them.
Peggy’s
If you haven’t checked out Peggy’s in Fremantle’s West End – you’re definitely missing out.
A family-owned eatery that makes sandwiches to order, here we’ve discovered their chicken schnitty sandwich with dill mayo, cheddar, onion, and iceberg.
It may sound simple, but there’s no denying the true satisfaction levels that a good sandy can deliver on.

Drasko’s Hot Chicken
Nashville hot chicken came to Perth at the end of 2020, and we were ready for it.
Extreme crunch, extreme heat (if you so choose it) and succulent meat are what Drasko’s Hot Chicken is all about in Mount Hawthorn. For us, it’s all about the Nashville quarter as the shining dish on the menu (but really all of it is excellent).
A crisp and freshly fried quarter leg of chicken seasoned to perfection and accompanied by a slice of white bread and pickle. Best enjoyed with comeback sauce and a side of fries or mama’s beans, plus a house-made iced tea to help alleviate that spicy sting.

Considered one of Perth’s best spots for Hainanese chicken rice, William Street in Northbridge’s Tak-Chee is an absolute must for those who love their poultry.
Fragrant poached chicken that is matched in flavour by the rice it sits atop is comfort food at its best. The restaurant may look unassuming, but it is true quality and an absolute winner.

Little Lebanon
Smoky charcoal chicken with garlic sauce that’ll have you reaching for a mint straight after you finish dining.
We must be talking about Little Lebanon in Osborne Park.
The ultimate hack: when you get a full chicken takeaway, they include a pita on top which soaks up all the chicken juices and garlic sauce – making it the ultimate snack itself.
Snag it quickly so you don’t have to share and thank us later.

Archie’s Hot Chicken
Yes oh yes to fried chicken burgers each and every time.
While Archie’s Hot Chicken currently is pop-up only, we’re more than happy to hunt them down so we can get our greedy mitts on their goods. Buns stuffed with juicy chicken that’s been fried to perfection and will leave you full to the absolute brim.
Sling them a follow on Facebook or Instagram so you can see where you’ll be able to find them next. You won’t regret it!

Bar Rogue
Who knew that cold fried chicken was even a thing? The clever folk at Highgate’s Bar Rogue did that’s for sure.
Yes, it really is fried chicken that is cold, coming to the table with a coating of honey, spear of pickle, and a side of house-made Fromage blanc with caviar to spread over each bite.
It’s absolute luxury, and a whole lot of fun at the same time showing they’re not taking themselves too seriously.

When a dining venue specialises in one particular thing (hello burgers), you can sometimes skip right past what is actually an absolute winner.
So if you haven’t tried Short Order in Fremantle or Perth CBD’s buffalo wings, you need to rectify that situation, stat. Smothered in hot sauce and served with blue cheese ranch sauce and celery, these totally satisfy any chicken craving you might be harbouring.

There’s something truly heartwarming about North Perth’s Satchmo Café and its heavy soul vibes.

Sauma
We love spices and deep flavours and dishes that make our hearts skip a beat. And Sauma has just that with its green chicken tikka street snack.
Cooked in the tandoor, they’re prepared with a mint and coriander crust with green chilli and ginger – and they smell as good as they look. Head into Northbridge and try them for yourself to see just why they’re such a crowd-pleaser.

Forklore
City West’s Forklore café has a strong Japanese and Asian nod in its flavours, so there’s no surprise that the ever-popular katsu sando features on their menu.

Local Bird
Original or spicy? Don’t choose, just use it as an excuse to pay not one but two visits to Tuart Hill’s Local Bird.
The chicken is crunchalicious, and is a glorious addition to the suburb. They say often on their socials that bird is the word, and it’s clear these guys are on a mission to do justice to the humble chicken.
Our mouths are watering just at the thought.
