The Ruby Lounge

Bunbury Is Home To A Brand New Underground Speakeasy

Slip behind the red door and be whisked away to an era of opulent intrigue, The Ruby Lounge is here.

Bunbury is home to a brand new, deliciously indulgent, underground speakeasy. Nestled under the disguise of the Mantra Bunbury Hotel and behind a red door, the hidden venue opened last Thursday. The aptly named Ruby Lounge is a place where you can expect Prohibition-era evenings of expertly crafted cocktails, fine wines, and top-notch live music.

Be different is the motto for the 21 and over venue. Its unassuming exterior belies a world of secrets and intrigue, reminiscent of clandestine gatherings of old. Step through its fortress-like doors into an underground retreat adorned with gold accents and plush furnishings.

Much like the speakeasies of the 1920s that inspired it, you won’t just be walking into the Ruby Lounge. There’ll be secret codes scattered around hotel rooms and online for you to crack to get in. And you’ll feel like you’re dodging prohibition while you’re at it!

Drinks

In terms of drinks, the extensive wine list of sparkling, red, and white champions West Australian labels, alongside wines from around Australia and the world. You’ll also find tap and bottled beer if you’re that way included, plus an eclectic list of creatively-named cocktails.

Think Bun Vegas Pina Colada, Tipsy Sailor Sour, Seaside Negroni, Antarctic Sun Down Mojito, Dark Cherry Temptation, and Sex With The Light Keeper. Plus, the Bunbury’s Only Virgin mocktail.

Bites

The food menu is small, centred around snack plates and cheese boards, but we’re not complaining. The list includes the likes of marinated Rokewood olives, assorted chilli nuts, house-made dip with charred sourdough, and hemp salsa and goats cheese bruschetta.

Dress code

A word to the wise: the dress code is elegant, classic cocktail attire. So you can leave your thongs and board shorts at the door.
