Miss Chow's is set to open in Margaret River

Miss Chow’s Heads To Margaret River’s Edwards Estate

Destined to be the “it” restaurant down south this summer, Miss Chow’s brings the pizzazz of contemporary urban dining to Margaret River’s Edwards Estate.

Over the past two decades, Margaret River has become much more than just one of the world’s great wine destinations. It’s a leisure hub of natural beauty and diversity, home to everything from surfing and hiking to mountain biking, fishing, golf, spa retreats, and magnificent beaches aplenty. And yes, it’s also a magnet for food and wine connoisseurs.

One of Perth’s most renowned restaurant groups is set to brighten the region’s already brilliant dining landscape this summer. Miss Chow’s — the acclaimed, contemporary south-east Asian brand that has cemented itself as a Perth favourite over the past eight years — opens at Edwards Estate in November.

The local consensus? It’s just what Australia’s South West needed.

At the helm is Perth restaurateur Jacquie Chan — who’s also behind Lucy Luu, Lygon Lane, Lena’s, and a host of extremely successful modern Asian eateries across Perth including the brand new Fremantle hotspot, Moon & Mary. It’s the product of a dream come true, on a site next to one of the region’s most beloved cellar doors, surrounded by rolling vineyards, and just minutes from Margaret River.

“Margaret River has always been on our radar,” Chan said.

“It’s a stunning place with a strong food and wine culture that we’ve wanted to be part of for a long while. Partnering with Edwards makes this project even more meaningful, and we feel it’s the ideal location to bring this concept to life.”

A first for the Margaret River wine scene

Miss Chow’s is set to be a transformative, game-changing addition, appealing to the growing diversity of visitors enjoying the unique corner of Australia. The collaboration marks a first for the Margaret River wine scene: a fine wine estate partnering with a restaurant centred around lively, relaxed pan Asian dining.

While the region is known for its exceptional high-end dining options, Miss Chow’s will bring the vibrant, energetic atmosphere of its popular Perth dining rooms to the glorious, rolling vineyards of Edwards in a way the region has never experienced.

The restaurant itself melds contemporary design and subtle, tasteful interiors within an eastern-faced space conceived as a showcase for the vineyards. A perfect marriage of modern amenity and rural charm. And it’s been on the whiteboard for years — a vision challenged by COVID-19 delays complicating supply chains.

“We saw an opportunity to offer something a little different: modern Asian food with a relaxed feel,” Chan said.

“Margaret River has amazing dining options, but we believe the blend of approachable Asian dishes with great local wines and a beautiful vineyard setting brings something new to the mix.”

The menu

The menu has been developed by Miss Chow’s Executive Chef Aldren Teo — the man responsible for the food across the group’s six restaurants.

Locally sourced produce will be a priority, so expect abalone from Augusta and truffle from Manjimup. Dish-wise, the vibe will be Margaret River venison tartare with soy-cured egg yolk, porcini and pickled radish. As well as crisp Amelia Park lamb and lemongrass dumplings, and smoked Wagin duck san choy bau with pickle and baby gem lettuces.
