Get your Summer drinks on at some of Perth’s best beer gardens.
There’s probably not much we love more than settling into a leafy beer garden for a cheeky tipple on a warm summer’s day.
The outdoor drinking scene in Perth has been pretty iconic since way back when, and it’s only continuing to grow. Here are some of our absolute favourites for your next weekend catch-up in the sun.
The Henley Brook
Beer Gardens don’t get much better than this.
Head out to the valley for a frothy at ‘The Hen’ (local lingo) if you’re on the hunt for a casual beer garden vibe nestled on a three-acre paddock.
You’ll find pretty much everything here from a nature playground to footy goals for the little ones to run free while you enjoy over twenty craft beers on tap and an extensive menu of pub grub feeds.
Always abuzz with life but still managing to maintain its cozy snug feel, Picabar has made quite the name for itself since opening in 2012.
They’re all about supporting new and boutique wineries and serving up craft beers, and after expanding the outdoor decking area and bar they’ve become (we think) one of the best beer gardens around town.
Grab your mates and enjoy a boozy arvo sesh in the sun at the iconic Queens Tavern.
They’ve been quenching local’s thirst since 1880 and their popularity hasn’t slowed. Their timeless pub style has captured our hearts for many a years, and we couldn’t think of anywhere better to perch up and watch life go by with a pint in hand.
The Brisbane Hotel
The Brisbane Hotel’s beer garden gives us complete vacay vibes, and we’re here for it.
Sitting on the edge of the city, you’ll find it easy to completely relax here for an after-work drink or a weekend catch up. It’s all laidback Perth pub times and flavourful food along Beaufort Street, so get down now for a city escape.
A classic favourite Perth watering hole, and creator of a pretty bloody good parmi if we might add, The Guildford
You can quench your thirst with a variety of cocktails, local beers, ciders and a mix of satisfying wines. Did we mention how good their smoked slow-cooked meats are? Topped in homemade rubs and bastes, you’ll be hard pressed to find anywhere that does it just as good.
Rose and Crown Hotel
And while we’re on the topic of Guildford, have you visited one of WA’s oldest hotels?
Don’t let age fool you, because Rose and Crown know how to pull off the best beer garden in charming rustic style. The leafy garden atmosphere is hard to beat, and they’ve often got some local music going to accompany your afternoon.
Hyde Park Hotel
What’s a good beer garden if it’s not a lush leafy oasis full of greenery?
The centrally located joint boasts modern and elegant decor fitting for an iconic bustling hub in North Perth. Hyde Park Hotel is the perfect spot for an office lunch break, catch up with friends or sports watching sesh. Plus, they’ve got drink specials running all day everyday- we’ll get behind that.
The Parkerville Tavern
Proving that not everything great has to be brand new, this historic old pub has been around for a time- so they know how to beer garden right.
Parkerville Tavern is a place to soak up the rays in a casual family setting with an array of local wines, ciders, beers and cocktails to accompany your classic Aussie style feed.
A venue well worth the wait, plenty of attention and love has gone into the restoration and renovation of Freo’s Old Courthouse.
They’ve focused on sourcing the finest locally produced products and making their beer list sensationally top-notch in a nod to their own local beer scene. Let’s not forget their garden, shaded by big trees with a simple seated setting it’s absolutely stunning and worth a visit.
The Old Synagogue
Staying South, we have to pay a mention to The Gog for its fabulously hip beer and wine garden at The Arbor.
Work your way around over three levels and settle in for a drink or bite from the modern pub menu amongst the greenery while you take in the sunshine.
The Windsor Hotel
The garden bar at The Windsor is your next weekend outing.
The leaf-filled outdoor oasis is absolute Sunday sesh heaven, and they’re making the most of it with their garden bar Sunday’s summer sessions. $20 dirty burgers, $10 spritz, $9 beers and pints and live entertainment- what more could you need? They also have their own microbrewery on-site where you can watch all the magic happen.
Not just one, but two beer gardens- now we’re talking!
The Balmoral is a Vic Park fave, and a frequent haunt for anyone after a huge range of beer, wine, cocktails and good times. The back beer garden boasts tropical vibes and sports on the mega screen while the front bar is a great spot to watch the hustle and bustle of the street.
Well known for its cranking music scene, you can find many rocking local and international bands gracing the stage here and a beer garden packed to the brim most weekends.
Rosemount Hotel is your number one stop to catch homegrown acts, live acoustics or DJs on deck while you dig in to a classic pub menu and kick off the night right.
Seasonal Brewing Co
Breathing life into the Maylands drinks scene, Seasonal Brewing Co is making locally crafted beer a staple in this neighbourhood.
Local artwork adorns the walls, but head brewer Brody Watts steals the show with his crafted beers on over a dozen taps. The kitchen is also putting on a show with generous share plates and comfort meals to while away your arvo.
