Last August, Plateful Perth took over the City of Perth with a month of food events, offers, and experiences. Last year’s festival included an extensive program including 52 events, experiences, and special offers, all of which showcased WA’s finest produce.
This August, Plateful Perth is returning with more than 65 events, experiences, and offers, making it bigger and better than ever. Here’s what you need to know.
Events
The month of August will be all about perfectly curated food events and there’s going to be plenty of them to choose from. This year, Plateful Perth is bringing a cool 16 events — the hardest part is going to be deciding which ones to book.
If you’re looking to wine and dine that special someone, you’ll want to get tickets to the Chef Hosted Dining at 6HEAD — an exquisite six-course fine-dining dinner, specially curated for the evening and perfectly paired with exclusive wines by Leeuwin Estate. Or a trip to the always-impressive Italian flavours at Garum, where Guy Grossi and Paolo Apuzzo are serving up those rustic, full-bodied Roman flavours, perfectly matched with vino from Voyager Estate. Speaking of vino, Moss Wood — one of Margaret River’s finest — is joining forces with Samuels on Mill to present Wagyu & Wine; a five-course Wagyu dinner paired with Moss Wood’s signature wines.
Looking for a more casual date night, there’s plenty of that as well. The one we’re looking forward to most? Hadiqa’s Capture & Taste: Food Photography Class. In today’s visually driven world, we’ve all become amateur photographers who photograph food and every other moment of our lives. We live for creating and capturing memories so why not turn date night into an evening of eating food while learning how to capture stunning shots, and all from one of Perth’s most Instagrammed rooftop bars?
Whatever your interest and motivation, there’s plenty to choose from, all of which can be found here.
Experiences
Plateful Perth experiences have been designed to immerse you in a fusion of flavours and encourage you to try something new. There are 27 experiences available to choose from and they range from progressive dinners to cocktail masterclasses.
For something a little different, head to Miss Mi for Journeys through Southeast Asia — a unique menu each week that takes you through some of the distinct flavours of the region with each week dedicated to a new region from the Philippines and Sri Lanka to Indonesia and Thailand. We really want to go taste them all.
If you love cheese and wine, you’ll want to book into A Fromage Affair at Small Print Wine Bar. The name speaks for itself, bringing your love affair to a head, perfectly matching fine cheese and wine. Did we mention there’s cheese?
And if there’s one thing we know about West Aussies, it’s that we love a bit of spicy food. On Thursdays, find an excuse to book into Sauma — one of Perth’s best Indian restaurants — and enjoy The Great British Curry Night. There are five Thursdays in August so the only question will be ‘How many times are you going to have a British curry feast for dinner?’
Here are all the experiences on offer — how many will you try?
Offers
Possibly saving the best for last, there are 22 special offers up for grabs again this year, so fire up the group chat and start booking in those girl’s nights and friends’ group catch-ups.
There are daily bar bites that make for the perfect lunch at places like BrewDog, The Generous Squire, the Globe, and more. There’s the return of The Happy Meal at Perth’s most famous banh mi spot, Le Vietnam. Or maybe it’s the Charcuteria & Fino at one of Perth’s vibiest cocktail bars, Andaluz, absolutely perfect for the after-work girl’s night out.
