These new bars and restaurants in Fremantle are a must for your next day out.

You definitely wouldn’t say Freo is short on trendy bar and restaurant options, and it just gets better and better with five new bars and restaurants leaving us spoilt for choice.

From American BBQ to delicious cocktails and freshly baked Pizza these new bars and restaurants will have you covered for whatever tickles your fancy.

I’d say it’s time to round up the crew and dedicate a weekend exploring all the fresh new spots Freo has to offer, just make sure you start on an empty stomach.

Old Faithful

1 Pakenham Street, Fremantle

Perth’s best American-style BBQ joint has opened its doors in the heart of Freo.

Nestled in Distribution Lane their new home will bring an old-world basement setting vibe with plenty of good eats and drinks to go around.

You can feast on smoked meats, filling burgers and their iconic Brisket smoked with a homemade Texas-style rub. Of course you can’t tuck in to all this without a beverage to wash it all down, and there’s plenty to choose from with 32 rotating taps and hand-crafted cocktails.

Even better news? They have a takeaway alcohol service so you can enjoy their signature selection from the comfort of your own home.

Calamity’s Rod

15 Bannister Street, Fremantle

Located behind Hougoumont Hotel on Bannister Street this new brewery is the perfect spot for an afternoon drink in its relaxing little courtyard setting.

Open daily from 4pm their beer is fresh and delicious brewed on site by Dan and Geoff Goddard along with plenty of gin and wine options if beer isn’t your style.

Make sure to pop in on your next visit and soak in all the good Freo vibes with a drink or ten.

Republic of Fremantle

3 Pakenham Street, Fremantle

A strong favourite among locals and visitors this distillery bar has made its mark with mouth-watering cocktails and signature vodka and gin.

The secret lies in the grapes which are used in their spirits instead of the typical grain base bringing natural citrus and zesty flavours. The venue sits alongside the heritage buildings on Pakenham Street with a bar, kitchen and communal alfresco area giving you plenty of space to drink your day away.

Make sure you get your hands on one of their many cocktails from spiced-up classics to their own delicious creations. After a few drinks start getting to your head you can get some nibbles going with share plates and Aperitivo-style snacks.

Running with Thieves

218 Marine Terrace, South Fremantle

Further South is our very own WA-based brewery which includes a restaurant, retail outlet and a 20-metre bar wrapping around copper pot stills and brew tanks.

Their menu includes eight core beers along with a rotating seasonal variety and an exclusive selection of gin, vodka, rum and whiskey- you won’t be short on choices here.

Of course their amazing selection of brews is just the tip of the iceberg, they also have a tasty menu of pub-snack style foods and healthier bowl options if you’re feeling like you’ve maybe overdone it on beers (calories don’t count on the weekend though, we know this).

Tony Pepperoni

2 South Terrace, Fremantle

Get excited – Fremantle’s first authentic New York-style pizza joint is here.

They will be setting up shop in Newport Fremantle’s kitchen with a line up of pizza options that will have you hooked.

Get your hands on their fan favourite ‘The Meatball Pizza’ coated in authentic tomato and basil sauce, homemade meatballs and layers upon layers of gooey mozzarella. Tony Pepperoni also has our vegan and gluten-free friends covered with plenty of options there.

Can’t take on an entire pizza? Pop in for a snack with everything from mozzarella sticks to cheeseburger spring rolls that will really test your self-control.

To top it all off, they also offer late-night service so after a booze-fuelled night on the town you can stumble in and grab a hot slice.
