Maylands iconic Swallow Bar is saying goodbye for now.

After 10 years of serving up great food, live music, and plenty of drinks on the Maylands strip, owners Zoe and Merez have announced they will be saying goodbye to Swallow Bar for good.

Swallow started out with a set of hand-stitched 1920s train seats and soon blossomed into a warm, local bar that truly set the standard for the now buzzing Maylands food and drinks scene.

The old wooden floors, Parisian artworks, smooth live music, delectable menu and antique light fittings set around a wood bar captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike over the last decade in an atmosphere quite unlike anything else. Plus, it helped that they could whip up a damn good cocktail.

Zoe and Merez took to Facebook to break the news, letting loyal fans know they will be saying goodbye to embark on new adventures in Melbourne with their girls.

It’s a huge loss for Maylands, but after closing the doors over Easter Zoe and Merez hope there will be a new chapter on the horizon for Swallow.

“We would love nothing more than to see Swallow continue in wonderful hands who will give it the love and passion that we have.”

Say Goodbye

Their last day of trade will be Sunday the 10th of April, and they’re planning to go out with a bang.

No bookings are needed, just head on down for a final send-off party we’re sure will be epic. They will be extending their weekend hours slightly to fit everyone in, opening Saturday 3 pm-midnight and Sunday 12noon – whenever.
