It had to happen one day, but that day could be here very soon as Netflix seem to be cracking down on password sharing.

On a recent report on ABC, users have started reporting seeing a pop-up box when they try to sign in using someone else’s account.

The message reads

“If you don’t live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to keep watching.”

After seeing the pop-up message, users are asked to either sign up for a free trial or have a verification code sent to the email or phone number associated with the account.

The good news is for Australians though, Netflix is just testing out the feature for now so it seems we might have a bit of time up our sleeves for free or cheap Netflix.

“This test is designed to help ensure that people using Netflix accounts are authorised to do so,” a spokesperson for Netflix said.
