In a bid to boost international tourism, Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) will restart its direct service between Perth and Tokyo from October 29th, 2023.

Initially, flights will depart three times a week with the hope to increase that to daily operations in 2024.

ANA will operate using the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which has 184 seats comprising 32 business class, 14 premium economy, and 138 economy class seats.

Perth Airport Acting CEO, Kate Holsgrove, said this news is a significant step forward in the airport’s post-COVID recovery efforts.

“Prior to the pandemic, ANA’s Perth-Tokyo route was incredibly popular with travellers, and we expect there to be huge demand when it resumes later this year,” she said.

The airline began this route in September 2019, but it was short-lived and ended in March due to the COVID pandemic.

“The October launch will allow ANA to replicate the successful build-up they undertook for the first direct flights back in 2019, with a strong focus on both business travel and the Japanese ski season.”

“Once the service re-launches, we will continue to work closely with ANA to rebuild confidently towards a daily service with strong passenger demand all year round.”

While there is no exact flight timetable yet, All Nippon Airways’ previous Perth to Tokyo service departed Perth at 9:45 pm to reach Narita Airport at 8:25 am the next day. Returning home, passengers left Narita at 11:15 am to land in WA’s capital city at 8:15 pm.
