Join Noel Nannup, Jenny Gregory, Julian Bolleter, Rona Woods and Denise Cook for a conversation about urban Perth – past – present – future

Which visions have shaped how the city has changed over time and can they co-exists? Key thinkers discuss Perth as a place of plenty, river city, city of cars and modernity, and as home of memories. How might the urban future of Perth city be imagined ?

Panelists

Dr Noel Nannup is a respected Noongar elder, storyteller and cultural guide. Much of his career has been dedicated to educating young Western Australians about the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal people.

Jenny Gregory AM FRHS is Winthrop Professor of History at The University of Western Australia. She has published widely on aspects of urban history, town planning and heritage.

Dr Julian Bolleter is the Deputy Director of the Australian Urban Design Research Center, a published author, and expert on the future of Australian cities.

Rona Woods is a respected Noongar elder who grew up around the city and East Perth.

Dr Denise Cook is the curator of the Creating Perth exhibition. She specialises in Western Australian history, particularly local and Noongar history, as well as protocols for non-Aboriginal people working in the Noongar community.

This panel discussion is held in conjunction with the Creating Perth exhibition at the State Library and is a part of the 2021 National Trust Australian Heritage Festival.
