Comic books and cartoons came to life as the Supanova Pop Culture Expo took over the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre on the weekend.
Featuring TV & movie stars, voice actors and comic artists, the event drew huge crowds of enthusiastic fans.
The biggest attractions of the weekend were Firefly star Nathan Fillion, and Harry Potter actors Bonnie Wright and Jason Isaacs. Only able to attend the second day of the convention, Isaacs signed autographs until late into the afternoon to accommodate his many eager fans. Fillion cut short his breaks both days to ensure that he was able to meet everyone who had come along to see him.
The event also featured Danielle Panabaker (The Flash), Graham McTavish (The Hobbit), Elizabeth Henstridge (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), John DiMaggio (Adventure Time), Billy West (Futurama) and many more.
Shoppers were also well catered for, with a diverse range of stalls covering many interests. The traditionally popular Popcultcha
and Global Gear stores did not buck the trend this year, with a steady stream of people looking over their wares.
Cosplay has always been a big part of the convention scene, but it appears to be getting bigger and bigger every year, with crowds nearly filling the Riverside Theatre for the Cosplay Competitions over the weekend. They saw Kirilee Cosplay win the Madman National Cosplay Competition on Saturday morning, with Kirilee now heading to Brisbane in November to represent Perth in the finals.
Out on the convention floor many other attendees dressed up as their favourite characters, much to the delight of their fellow fans.
