The long lunch is making a comeback, starting in Cottesloe. With martinis in hand.
Once upon a time, business was done over lunch, with a drink in hand and nowhere to be until dinner. The Three Martini Lunch was shorthand for a mid-century New York power move, the province of ad men and dealmakers who treated a long afternoon as a legitimate way to run a company. Now Tigerfish is reviving parts of that tradition.
From Monday, July 13th, Tigerfish is launching its Three Martini Lunch, a flight of three bespoke martinis, all with a Japanese flair, served in sequence alongside the venue’s Low Tide Lunch, available Monday to Thursday throughout winter.
The martinis are the work of master mixologist Brendan Scott Grey, who trains regularly in Japan, and each martini leans on premium Australian spirits with a Japanese influence. First is the Junmai Ginger Martini, built from Forty Spotted Classic Dry Gin, junmai sake, dry vermouth, and pink ginger brine. The second is a Rosemary and Black Pepper Dirty Martini, made with The Botanist Gin, olive, rosemary, black pepper, and MSG brine. The finale is the Yuzu Moon Martini, a citrus-forward closer with Forty Spotted Citrus and Pepperberry Gin, Reishu, dry vermouth, and yuzushu.
The drinks are paired with Tigerfish’s shared Southeast Asian menu, including crispy rice cake with red curry and kaffir lime mayonnaise, crispy lamb shoulder with pu pad pong curry, and a wombok salad with Thai herbs and somtam dressing.
“The Three Martini Lunch itself isn’t really about having three martinis,” said Venue Manager Mark Rutter. “It’s about taking the time to sit down, connect, enjoy good food and great drinks, and embrace a little indulgence.”
And once you’re three martinis deep, and feel the unexplainable desire to belt out your favourite Sinatra tune, you can move from restaurant table to Fishbowl karaoke room. And what happens in the Fishbowl, stays in the Fishbowl.
