Il Locale Spent World Nurses’ Day Feeding Nurses at Three Perth Hospitals
Il Locale spent Tuesday running back-to-back lunch and dinner pushes, sending fresh pizzas out to nurses and hospital staff at three Perth hospitals as part of a new community initiative the brand is calling Feeding the Frontline. The deliveries were timed to World Nurses’ Day on May 12th.
The Perth pizza outfit, with stores in Scarborough, Subiaco, Currambine, Busselton, Kalamunda, and Stirling, built the day around the people who’d be on shift while most of the city was sitting down to eat.
Founder Mat Bourget described the operation as “controlled chaos”, with kitchens running at full tilt to keep up with the volume of orders heading out the door.
“It’s all systems go. Dough prepped, ingredients stocked, team ready. We’ve built Il Locale to handle volume, so when we do something like this, it’s big — but it’s precise.”
Deliveries went out across both meal services and spanned the metro area.
Bourget said the initiative came from people Il Locale already knew: customers, friends, and family working in healthcare roles whose hours and pressure tend to go unnoticed.
“A lot of our customers, friends and family are in these roles. You hear the stories, you see the hours, the pressure — it’s not something most people fully understand unless they’re in it. This is just our way of recognising that.”
“When things get tough, they’re the ones holding it together. That deserves respect. If we can bring a bit of energy into their day, even for a moment, that’s a win.”
