If there’s one thing the Kailis team know how to do well, it’s coastal dining. Gibney, the Shorehouse, Magic Apple — and now Sorrento.

George Kailis has just revealed Surreo and Bar Surreo, the first two venues inside his $16 million Sorrento Beach precinct. Expect a four-metre marble wishing well, custom Surreo coins handed to guests on arrival, a stained-glass dry-ageing room visible from the dining room, and a 4,000-bottle walk-in wine cellar with its own tasting table.

It’ll be WA’s largest beachside restaurant precinct at 1,500 sqm, with Surreo and Bar Surreo taking up 1,000 sqm of prime West Coast Drive frontage. Surreo is a seaside steakhouse with Basque-leaning, Roman-inspired food. Bar Surreo runs alongside it as a coastal bar with its own kitchen and head chef. Rezen Studio — the design firm behind Gibney — is handling the fit-out.

Construction is already underway, with both venues touted to open in April 2027. Two more spaces in the precinct will be revealed later this year, with Kailis confirming they’ll lean more casual — breakfast and coffee.
