PERTH, 12 April 2018: Summer days and evening BBQs might be on the way out with winter on the way in, but that hasn’t stopped The Merrywell from incorporating one of Australia’s favourite meats into their latest creation for the hotly contested AHA WA’s Best Steak Sandwich Competition – giving away free sanga’s to the first 200 people through their doors tomorrow!
Created by The Merrywell’s newly appointed Chef de Cuisine, Daniel Lopes, the mouth-watering Merry had a Lamb Sanga includes a grilled lamb rump steak, chipotle & fig relish, beetroot pickle, feta mayonnaise & pistachios on a custom designed potato & roast onion bread.
With The Merrywell taking out the award for the Best Steak Sandwich consecutively in 2014 and 2015, Lopes has resolved to reclaim the title and up the ante for his first ever entry – choosing to showcase lamb instead of the traditional beef steak.
“With over two thirds of Aussies claiming that lamb is the most patriotic meat on Australia Day1, it only seemed fitting to extend this tradition and create a unique sandwich which could compete in this year’s competition,” said Lopes.
To celebrate The Merrywell’s bold attempt to step away from the herd, raise the ‘baa’ and reclaim the coveted ‘best steak sandwich’ title, from 12.00pm tomorrow the first 200 people through the doors will be offered this limited edition sanga free of charge!
