NEW EVENTS ANNOUNCED – FURTHER DETAILS

An Evening with Pierre Koffmann at Bistro Guillaume

Date:
 Wednesday 13 November

Location: Bistro Guillaume, Crown Perth

Price: $285 per person

Pierre Koffmann is undoubtedly one of the most influential figures in modern British food, having had the likes of Marco Pierre White, Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing pass through the kitchen of his three-star London restaurant, Le Tante Claire.

For the inaugural Perth leg of Gourmet Escape, Koffmann is bringing his Gallic swagger and know-how to Crown Perth’s Bistro Guillaume, one of the city’s high-water marks for French cuisine. He’ll be cooking alongside Bistro Guillaume acclaimed French chef Guillaume Brahimi and preparing a four-course dinner – complete with canapés and matching wines from Western Australia – that will prove once and for all why French food is often referred to as classic cooking. An essential evening for those that don’t just want to eat, but want to dine.

Santini Presents The Sicilian Job

Date: Thursday 14 November
Location: Santini Bar & Grill, QT Perth
Price: $285 per person

Sicily’s godfather of fine dining is joining forces with one of Australia’s hottest Italian restaurants to throw a food and wine party you can’t refuse.

Italians, like the saying goes, do it better. That’s going to be the case when QT Perth’s in-house Italian restaurant Santini – recently named by The Australian in its annual Hot 50 Restaurants countdown as Western Australia’s hottest restaurant – rolls out the red carpet for Ciccio Sultano, the chef of two Michelin-starred Ristorante Duomo in Sicily’s south-east. After getting a taste of the industry at a local pastry store, Sultano immersed himself in cooking and, after travelling to New York to cook with some of the city’s best Italian chefs, returned home with a strong sense of Sicilian cooking and hospitality.

Nic Wood, chef of Santini, might not have the same family history as Sultano, but is equally committed to the Italian tenets of good eating, good drinking and good living. Expect plenty of deliciousness and wood-fired oven action as these two chefs team up to throw an Italian food and wine party not to be missed.

Redefining Modern Australian: Cloudstreet x Wildflower presented by Singapore Airlines
Date: Monday 11 November
Location: Wildflower, COMO The Treasury
Price: $285 per person

Just how far can you take West Australian ingredients? Two of the country’s most promising cooking talents – one is a home-town hero, the other is based in Singapore where he opened a Michelin-starred bistro – are joining forces to find out.

What is modern Australian food? It’s a question with many answers.

Modern Australian is Cloudstreet, the new Singaporean restaurant from Colombo-born, Australian-trained chef Rishi Naleendra. After earning a Michelin star for his mod-Oz dining room Cheek by Jowl – now rebranded to the more casual bistro Cheek – Naleendra and fellow Australian Gareth Burnett teamed up to open an ambitious diner serving a precise, cosmopolitan tasting menu.

Modern Australian is also Wildflower, the showpiece restaurant at COMO The Treasury where Matt Sartori uses indigenous ingredients to tell and celebrate the story of the world’s oldest living culture. Together, Sartori and Naleendra will serve an exclusive five-course dinner celebrating the state’s bounty, matched with West Australian wines. Get ready to see and taste WA in a new light.

Tex-Mex Takeover at Mandoon Estate presented by Australian Good Meat

Date: Friday 8 November
Location: Mandoon Estate, Swan Valley
Price: $185 per person

Australian by birth but Texan by choice, Melbourne-born Jess Pryles is a woman obsessed with meat. Dubbed the “hardcore carnivore”, Jess will join forces with Mandoon Executive Chef Michael Hartnell, taking inspiration from the markets of Monterrey to prepare a Tex-Mex menu in the Swan Valley.

Mandoon will be transformed into a carnivores’ paradise complete with a live cooking station, with guests seated under the stars to watch (and taste) Pryles and Hartnell combine the best quality Aussie beef and lamb with open flame grilling techniques. Guests will also hear from local beef and lamb producers about sustainable red meat production.

The menu will include the likes of ‘smoked pitmaster fat’ served with locally baked bread, lamb ribs cooked over fire, chili lime bavette steak with Jess’ ‘crack sauce’ and to finish off, a Texan ‘peanut brittle pie’ – washed down with premium Mandoon wines and Wild Swan beer, all in the name of good eating and drinking.

Location: Gourmet Feast in the Valley, Sandalford Wines, Swan Valley

Fraser Gallop Friday Long Lunch

Date: Friday 15 November

Location: Fraser Gallop Estate, Margaret River

Price: $320 per person

After three years at Rene Redzepi’s world-renowned Noma, Hugh Allen is back on Australian soil and wowing diners at Melbourne’s Vue de Monde. This November, it’s Margaret River’s chance to clock one of the country’s hottest rising talents when the spectacular Fraser Gallop Estate private residence opens its lawns for a Friday lunch with a difference. In addition to the spectacular setting, forward-thinking food and matched estate wines, respected international drinks journalist Mike Bennie will host the lunch.

5 Hats Lunch: Momofuku Seiōbo x Yarri presented by Australian Good Meat

Date: Saturday 16 November

Location: Yarri Restaurant, Dunsborough

Price: $265 per person

Dunsborough’s hottest restaurant will welcome Barbados-born chef and general of the Australian outpost of David Chang’s Momofuku empire – Paul Carmichael. His imaginative, modern and undeniably delicious cooking style draws on family inspiration and food traditions from across the Caribbean.

Carmichael will cook alongside like-minded food renegade Aaron Carr of Dunsborough’s Yarri, offering a tropical feast inspired by the South-West landscape and ingredients. The deliciously meaty menu will be served alongside wines from Snake & Herring, another producer that draws plenty of inspiration from this unique corner of the world.

Throughout the night, guests will hear from local beef and lamb producers about sustainable red meat production.
