The Guildford Hotel: 8 years in the making!

The Guildford Hotel has officially reopen, 150 years after it was first built. It marks a new chapter in the historic establishments history after a catastrophic 2008 fire.

The Guildford Hotel 01Fratelle Group redesigned the building and have exposed some of the original 1860’s bricks that built the “Grand Old Dame” of Guildford. Guildford was the first place to be settled in Western Australia in 1829 and the community passionately enjoys a proud heritage of which The Guildford Hotel in Perth stands strongly -and beautifully- restored within.

The Guildford Hotel MenuThe food menu consists of ‘one handed’ items such as “Bao Buns” – smoked prk, nam-jim slaw and jalapenos ($14) to ‘two handed’ heartier dishes such as the “Moreton Bay Bug Roll” ($24) served with soft herbs and siracha mayo.Kids have a four menus to choose from at $12 each that all include a fruit box.

espresso martini the guildford hotelCocktails are available and served from $16. You can even order cocktails from the tap! We had the Nitro Espresso Martini (pictured above) with Ketel One Vodka, Kahlua, cold drip coffee charged with nitrogen & served chilled from the tap. Glasses of bubbles range from $8 (Morgan’s Bay Sparkling Cuvee) to $19 (G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut). Wine is fairly well represented with impressive Western Australian vineyard Stormflower gracing their Chardonnay on the menu ($75 bottle) and glasses of white available from $9-$11 a glass. Kosovich’s renowned stickies and ports are available from $10-$14 a serve and bottles of red go from $35 (Morgan’s Bay cab Merlot) – $105 (Redbrook Shiraz) a bottle.

The Guildford Hotel BarAlthough the tap beers don’t appeal to beer snobs in Perth, to their credit they do have Hop Hop on tap which at $10 a pint is very reasonably priced. Peroni, Han Super Dry, Asahi, Carlsberg and Feral’s Sly Fox make up the tap offerings.
