Video : Humpback Whales Play with People off Western Australia

Jeremy Tucker has posted video to his Facebook page, showing humpback whales frolicking with dozens of lucky snorkeling tourists off the coast of Western Australia’s north-west.

The whales were “interacting with us while Great Escape (the boat tour) is on a mooring and guests swimming at the back,” Jeremy wrote.

“So when your on a mooring swimming off the back and a couple of whales come through what do you do?,” he said.

The post is going viral, seen tens of thousands of times in the last few days.

The footage was take at The Rowley Shoals, a group of three atoll coral reefs south of the Timor Sea, about 260kms west of Broome, Western Australia, on the northwestern Australian.

In a Facebook post, the Great Escape boat charter company – an operator who were responsible for the tour – said the interaction was “very very rare.”
