Step off busy Hay Street, head up the staircase, and enter the fragrant sanctuary that is Endota Spa, a franchise of Australia’s largest spa network, which prides itself on providing a personalised relaxation experience for all its customers from the moment they step through the door.

The therapists here specialise in all kinds of massages, body scrubs and beauty services, as well as tailored pregnancy-safe treatments. If you work on the Terrace and feel you could do with a freshen up during your lunch break, you may want to head over to Effigy, which claims to be Perth’s number 1 fully integrated hair, beauty and body day spa. Located in Carillon City, the House of Ernest Day Spa offers high-quality, natural treatments to both pamper and rejuvenate. For the “busy executive”, they recommend their 30-minute Express Manicure or Pedicure, both of which can be performed while your hair is done, so you can return to the office looking and feeling refreshed.

The Spa at The Richardson 

The Richardson Hotel is widely reputed to be Perth’s best luxury boutique hotel, and is regularly frequented by celebrities touring the city.

Nestled in a leafy West Perth street, with easy access from neighbouring Subiaco, its spa facility is an urban haven of tranquillity, and the perfect place to escape from hectic everyday pressures. Its treatments feature natural ingredients, and apply techniques from all over the world. If you work in the area, their Spa Essentials (including 30-minute manicures, 40-minute pedicures, various waxing options and brow treatments) could be just what you need to loosen up during your lunch break.

For those with a bit more time up their sleeve, why not try one of their 50-minute facials, wraps or body massages – there’s even a specialised “Stress Relieving Massage”, which will leave you feeling more soothed and relaxed than you thought possible.

Bali Beautique Spa

For those of you at the eastern end of town, don’t despair; East Perth boasts its own selection of day spas for you to indulge in. One of these is the Bali Beautique Spa at Fraser Suites, whose clientele include business people, and even the odd celebrity!

Working in the area and needing a quick time-out myself, I headed here to try their 30-minute Express Pedicure. It is no more than 5-minute drive or 10/15-minute walk from most parts of East Perth (parking available), and you are greeted with a cup of soothing tea and the exotic scent of sandalwood.

Swastee, my therapist, looked after me beautifully, pampering my feet while I luxuriated on their Balinese-style beds and enjoyed more tea and snacks. I was back at my desk within the hour, with my feet looking and feeling soothed and refreshed.

If you’ve got a bit more time, you may also wish to treat yourself to a 1-hour Balinese or aromatherapy massage, 1-hour warm green tea & chrysanthemum facial or a 1-hour hydrating cream bath. Other services include scrubs, waxing and tinting, with bridal packages additionally available. I certainly could not fault their care or professionalism.

Situated on Royal Street, in the heart of East Perth’s commercial district, the skilled therapists at Safarii provide personalised treatments to pamper and enhance your face and body.  Traditional beauty procedures, such as waxing, tinting, spray tanning and IPL hair removal, are coupled with 19 types of facials (including peels, 30-minute resurfacers and microdermabrasion), and manis/pedis.

Luxe Spa on Kensington

For the ultimate spa experience just minutes from the CBD, look no further than Luxe. This day spa is located a short walk from the river and beautiful Claisebrook Cove in East Perth, with easy access by CAT bus or train. From the moment you set foot in the decadent black-and-white themed interior, you realise this is no ordinary day spa. Melissa, the owner, told me she places great emphasis on high-quality, professional service, tailoring everything to suit individual customer needs. There are even “double” massage rooms, which are perfect for couples.

Each of Luxe’s six speciality massages draws on inspiration from exotic Asia or the Hawaiian Islands, with a variety of optional luxurious add-ons. If you really want to go all out, Luxe also offers a number of spa packages, ranging in time from 2 hours (Revive the Romance package for couples) to 5.5 hours (Ultimate Day Spa Package). All treatment options can be enhanced with a session in the Kensington Cabin’s Cedar Hot Tub (fits up to two people). For those on a tighter time frame, Luxe can just as easily cater to your needs with 30-minute manis, pedis and massages.

As Northbridge becomes increasingly connected to the CBD, and continues to undergo its own commercial and residential development, Bigfoot Massage on busy Newcastle St is well located to offer its soothing, relaxing treatments to people living and working in this inner-city district. The facility prides itself on its multicultural approach, both in terms of its staff and treatment techniques (Swedish massage, shiatsu, Thai yoga massage, Chinese Tui-na massage and aromatherapy etc.). And while the name suggests it may be all about massage, it does in fact offer a number of other beauty treatments too.

Among its massage services are the Bigfoot Deluxe Deep Tissue Massage (available as a 30-minute option) and the Bigfoot Remedial Massage for chronic complaints, while its other services include ear candling, infrared sauna therapy, facial treatments and waxing.
