Breaking: Mask Wearing Restrictions Eased

Acting Premier Roger Cook has confirmed mask wearing will no longer be required from 6pm tonight with a few exceptions.

Based on the latest health advice from 6pm tonight you will no longer be required to wear a mask indoors except for vulnerable settings.

Settings such as hospitals, aged care and disability settings as well as on public transport to taxis and rideshare vehicles will still require masks to be worn.

“I’d like to thank all Western Australians for listening to the health advice and doing what was needed to be done over the past few weeks,” said Mr Cook.

Overnight no new local cases have been recorded in Western Australia, however, there were 3 international and 3 domestic travel cases. All of which are in quarantine.

Existing proof of vaccination requirements for venues and events will remain in place including:

  • Nightclubs
  • Music festivals and major events (above 500 people)
  • Pubs, taverns, hotels (hospitality) and Special Facility Licenses with a capacity of more than 500 people or these specific licensed venues that trade after midnight
  • Events with an Occasional Liquor Licence; and
  • Crown gaming floor

WA Vaccination Update

  • First doses administered: 2,063,985 (93.5% of Western Australians aged 12 and over – 94.8% of those aged 16 and over)
  • Second doses administered: 1,892,344 (85.7% of Western Australians aged 12 and over – 87.5% of those aged 16 and over)
  • Third doses administered: 252,954(12.2% of Western Australians aged 16 and over)
