Victoria records another 374 cases in its second worst day battling COVID-19.

In latest Melbourne COVID-19 update, Victoria has recorded another spike in coronavirus cases, with a jump up to 374 today compared to the 275 recorded yesterday.

The caseload is the second worst daily recording, with 428 cases recorded on Friday.

Three more elderly Victorians died today, bringing the national death toll to 126.

Premier Daniel Andrews said there were still people not taking the issue seriously enough.

“Please change the way you’re behaving,” he said.

“The stakes are very high.”

Three new deaths

The three Australians who died from COVID-19 overnight were all women from Victoria – one in her 80s, another in her 90s and the final aged over 100.

“We send our best wishes and condolences to the families,” he said.

“It will be a particularly difficult and challenging time for them.”

There are 174 Victorians in hospital, 36 of those are receiving intensive care.

There are now 3,078 active cases in the State, with 1,361,238 test conducted since January 1.

Mandatory mask wearing comes into force tomorrow

People living in the wider Melbourne area and Mitchell Shire will from tomorrow night be forced to wear face masks.

Already Victoria is recording a huge surge in demand.

Mr Andrews once again led by example, arriving at and leaving the press conference in his signature blue fabric mask.

Not wearing a mask from 11.59pm on Wednesday will result in fines.
