This is my number one pick for the day, another stayer who was in the race last year but had a rough start however did make up a lot of ground on the straight.

Craig Williams who rode Vow and Declare (last years winner) is on board this year as they want to give it every chance to win. As long as he doesn’t get stuck early I can see Surprise Baby storming home on the straight and winning the race.

Anthony Van Dyck

# 1 | Barrier 3 |Odds $9.50 (as of 2/11)

This horse is the one to beat, drawing barrier 3 and with Hugh Bowman on board what’s not to love.

Wearing the number 1 which last won back in 2005 on the very famous Makybe Diva. This European horse has been in great form and the only knock is that it hasn’t won over this distance before.

#11 | Barrier 6 | $19 (odd as of 2/11)

He was the favourite last year and was in very good form but only managed 7th.

He has another year of experience under his belt, however, didn’t do well in the Caulfield Cup which is why his odds might be a bit higher and I consider him a top 3 chance with good value.

Big roughie – Steel Prince

#16 | Barrier 21 | $41 (odd as of 2/11)

Out of all the higher odds horses this is the one I think has the best chance.

My favourite jockey Pikey is on board and this horse and is one that can go the distance.
