CinefestOZ gives sea salt popcorn a whole new meaning.

Australia’s premier destination film festival CinefestOZ is back for another sequel so grab your popcorn and swimmers – because you will need those too!

The 12th edition of CinefestOZ will be premiering feature films and events across the South West with Busselton, Bunbury and the Margaret River wine region offering immersive film experiences. Avid movie buffs can expect the combination of fine wine and popcorn to be the new normal with the festival hosting over 200 screenings and events across 40 venues. These venues include cinemas, craft breweries, wineries, galleries and small bars.

Grab your tux or ball gown alongside your surfer wetsuit as the 5-day festival across Wednesday, 28th August until Sunday, 1st September features a stellar line-up of events alongside its film screenings such as:

  • Premiere events, including Gala Nights and Red Carpet Feature Film Premieres;
  • Q & A lunches at wineries and breweries throughout the region;
  • Intimate sidebar events, screening sets of themed short films;
  • General screenings of both Australian and French feature films;
  • Industry events featuring guest filmmakers and renowned industry experts;
  • Free community screenings and events

CinefestOZ is a unique cinematic event on the Australian calendar, screening the best of new Australian and French film and competing to secure the most prominent film prize in the country. Last year, the event attracted record features and documentary entries with the $100,000 film prize being awarded to the film, Jirga.

The non-for-profit, homegrown event was established in 2008 to celebrate the French bicentenary of Antipodean exploration in Australia’s South West.
