National Geographic Names Perth in Top Place to Travel List in 2019
The secret about Perth is out….
National Geographic magazine has this week named Perth as one of its must see, most exciting spots to travel to in 2019.
Perth is in the company of cities like Toronto, Mexico City, Matera in Italy as well as Kansas City in the US.
The magazine called Perth “a bit of a best-kept secret (city)” in its recommendations for travellers in 2019.
National Geographic Travel classified Perth as “the world’s most remote major city” – coming in at destination 26 of 28 in the ‘Where to Travel in 2019’ list, that also included adventure, culture and nature hot spots.
“Western Australia, or WA, is the wild side of Oz,” the magazine said.
“Covering the western third of the continent, WA is better known for its otherworldly red rock formations and stunning coastal cliffs.
The recent London to Perth direct flights by Qantas also received a mention, as did our incredible beaches, the Swan Valley wine region and the recent developments, including Elizabeth Bay and new “urban-chic hotels.”
“Our Best Trips issue features 28 destinations and experiences that can inspire us, change our perspectives and connect us with cultures, places and ideas that matter in the world,” George Stone, National Geographic Traveler editor in chief, wrote in a news release.
