Ten months ago, Qantas announced it was beginning construction on its new Domestic Business Lounge at Perth Airport’s Terminal 4.

The work is now almost complete, and, spanning an area of 1,365 square metres, will add 30 percent more lounge capacity to the Perth market. The entire project is part of a major plan to create a dedicated Qantas precinct at both Terminals 3 and 4, providing its customers with improved gate access, faster security screening, quicker check-in, and of course the new lounge facilities.

The spacious lounge itself will have room for over 350 travellers, boasting state-of-the-art facilities whose design concept is influenced by the airline’s other impressive lounges already in operation in Singapore and Hong Kong. Their Perth counterpart will incorporate regional elements and colours drawn from the local landscapes.

“From a dedicated work zone with meeting room and conference facilities to a dedicated dining area offering a ‘dish of the day’ and all day barista service, the business lounge will give our most frequent flyers the ability to work or unwind in luxury” said Qantas Domestic Head of Customer Strategy, Philip Capps, last October.

“The new lounge will ensure our business customers receive the same high level of service on the ground as they receive in the sky.”

“It will raise the bar in both product and service, across not only our network, but the entire domestic market.”

Other features will include new furnishings, wireless Internet, newspapers, magazines, Foxtel and a full-service bar and buffet.

The lounge will act as a haven for Qantas business class customers, Platinum and Platinum One Frequent Flyers seeking to escape the often crowded terminal, and will officially open its doors on Thursday 27 August.
